In Holland - and many muslim countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Indonesia - there were protests about the movie of an MP called Wilders, a right wing politician. His thoughts about islam are very biased and he said many horrible things (in my view). Yesterday, after months of protest and discussion worldwide, this 'movie' was launched on a website called Liveleak.com

What I'm curious about is, if this movie was mentioned in Turkish news (newspapers, radio, television) and what Turkish people think about it.

Want to see it for yourself?

I wanted to post this movie too, but as an administrator I decided not to post it, before I give people the feeling I support this film.

I expected much more from it, after all the commotion we have had in the media. However, it was just a compilation of images we have all seen before. Wilders could have reached so many people with this video, so many people could make a good sollution. But he didn't. The result isnt that bad, its not disrespectful or insulting as I thought it would be. Yet it is bad party-propaganda that we really dont need. It is one-sided, ill-informed and misleading. All who agree/support this film, believe the fundamentalistic Islam, to be the true Islam. I would not want to agree with a fundementalist..

Just some additional info:

The Danish cartoonist has started a case against Wilders, for using his cartoon out of context. His cartoon was against Islamic extremists, not the Islam itself, so it was used wrongly and without permission.

The picture that is shown to be Muhammad Bouyeri, the murdered of film maker Theo Van Gogh, is wrong. It is a picture of the Dutch rapper Salah Edin. I wonder how Wilders could make such a mistake :-S It just means he sees every Maroccan as a potential Islamic murderer..

At last, in the end it shows pictures of blooded children. Today I read in the train-newspaper that these are not pictures of violence, as they seem to be, but they are a celebration among Muslims where the kids are deliberatly covered in blood or red liquids..

I was really laughing out loud when I heard these things on TV, about him plagiarising and using the wrong pic!

And indeed, this morning it also said that people were thinking about changing 'islam' into 'ku klux klan', coz then it would be exactly the same against christianity..

I'm glad Al-jazeera made clear this film does not represent the Dutch view of Islam at all, and that our prime minister actually said he didn't agree that this film was made public..

I think it is fine that it was published, especially since it is not a 'wrong' film. Only the last few seconds are his own thoughts, the other ones, eventhough monitored with certain purposes, are statements from other people, not from Wilders.

But yes, this is definitely NOT the viewpoint of the Dutch population! I think this film is rather a laugh, considering what attention Wilders gave to it. Besides that, it is just a miserable compilation to divide the Dutch people.

Well, for those interested: you cannot see the movie anymore on the Liveleak link from the first post. The movie has been taken of the website after serious threats towards staff of Liveleak. It's sad - whatever you think of this film - that this happened.

I downloaded it from rapidshare, but it is the Dutch version, so not of much use for other members here.

I guess you didn't read what we said at all or you deliberatly misunderstood what has been said. Anyway, if you feel offended, you should complain to the imams ın the film who said those things. Not to the guy who published it. However, I am still not behind that film (if only he had left out the last minute with his own thoughts.. they were )

I find it harsh of you to say that WE want to offend YOU. In case I misunderstood your words wrong, my apologies.

We post them because we wonder if the video got any reactions in Turkey, like it did in other muslimcountries, or like it did in the Netherlands. How many times do I have to say I am not against the publication of the film, but against the one-sided view that it shows? The Netherlands and its politics have been upside down because of such an idiot film. Please don't think we are trying to make you stronger, there's enough work to do here

I wondered the same. Have been looking for an appropriate forum to move the thread to, but couldn't really decide and then it was breakfast time I thought living-working in Turkey is the 'best' choice, as it's not really off-topic either? Anyway, your pick, since you moderate Politics forum

Well, you know why I am curious? I thought it would be a big insulting video about Wilders' OWN opinion on Islam. So in Holland we were all waiting for a very rude and disrespectful film. It turned out to be much 'softer' than we were all waiting for, and there have been no problems in mosques in the Netherlands, I believe some even showed the film. So we just wondered if there was relief, anger, or whatever in your country No intention at all to offend, especially considering all Dutch people in this thread mentioned not to be behind the content of the film.

I suppose you have watched it before commenting on a forum regarding it.. Aren't you more angry with the imams in the film claiming the Islam to be violent, than with the guy who publishes it? I think those Imams in the film really have a sick mind, and I find it a pity that our politician chose to make such a one-sided video

Anyway I have said enough about it, I cant hear the word 'film' for another decade, the news has been full of it here for months. And all for nothing. I hope you understand my disappointment in your immediate reaction that all we want to do is offend you.

so what does what these imams tell prove??? I live in America and most of the people don`t hesitate to throw out sick ideas like that America should nuke mid east? and when I oppose, they say that there is freedom of speech in America. If I said we should nuke America, I would land in guantanamo to spend rest of my life in a very civilized torture cell. See, freedom of speech doesn`t apply to everybody.

Now why doesn`t Wilders (btw, this man looks disgustingly funny whith his dyed hair, what a character!) show these "ultra-civilized" western people in his movie too.

This is how the dirty western-christian propaganda works. those who call Muslims terrorists for al qaida killed 5000 Christians, don`t even care about hundreds of thousands of Muslims killed by the Christians in Iraq. So who is actually terrorist???

the crusaders who killed tens of millions of Muslims for nothing were the biggest terrorists of all times. Their descendants genocided the Incas, Mayas, Indian Americans, Jews, Algerians, murdered millions of Africans, Bosnians, Turks(yes Turks... though you will never hear about it in the West, millions of Turkish civilians got murdered in the WW1 in the Balkans and in the eastern Anatolia by the Armenians. Later on, thousands of Turks got killed by Stalin), but this doesn`t make you stop you calling yourself civilized and us uncivilized.

So Delikizin or whatever, are you from Holland???

Have you ever been treated like a dog in Turkey for being Dutch? If you had been, you would call us uncivilized for sure. But I was treated like a dog (even worse) in the schiphol airport two years ago just because I had a Turkish passport, and I was there just to take a connecting flight to America. Now what should I call you???

So briefly, this movie of Wilders ( did I mention that he looks disgusting ) is just a good example of the western bigotry and hypocracy.

Go ahead call me a terrorist (though Im not a Muslim)

I wouldnt call it western-christian propaganda.. But it sure is anti-Islam propaganda in the worst way

Who is YOU and who is US. And who was talking about that?

Does it really matter where I am from? But yes, I currently live in the Netherlands.

Not like a dog, but I did have some unpleasant harassments because I came form west europe. However, I think Turkey is far from being uncivilized. For a new member, you seem to know much about my thoughts upon Turkey? Has it occurred to you I may be a Hollandalı Türk?

If you are talking about the westerners in general, then what is the difference between you and me:

Me, a Turk who lives in the Netherlands.
You, a Turk who lives in the States.

Aren't we both Turk and both Westerners then? And if there is no difference, what were you trying to say in your post?

Is there a connection between me and pathetic Wilders, just because we turn out to live on the same soil? To me it sounded like that's what you are saying. In that case, you and Bush must have a connection too?

I don`t consider myself a westerner, I`m not. I wouldn`t call you a westerner either if you`re a Turk no matter where you live. Again I didn`t imply anything targeting you.

Well, I'll be honest with you then Im not Turkish. I said so, just to show you how irrelevant it can be where you come from. For me, it means nothing that I am Dutch/English. It is not something that makes me happy. But I feel and think as a westerner. After having lived in İzmir, I love like a Turk and that is what makes me happy
