I agree with you, even if I admire thair hospitality; my daughter stayed for 2 weeks in istanbul, at a turkish family - it was an intercultural change of pupils - and she came back with 3 kg plus{#emotions_dlg.bigsmile}..and with a 3rd bag of presents....{#emotions_dlg.ty_ty}

Are you saying she gained more than 3kg? in only 2 weeks? That is amazing.......I love Turkish people, but the only thing that bothers me is the pressure to eat and eat and eat.....I just can´t do it. Last time I was there I was sick for over a month from the eating. I´m sure they have no idea this can cause problems.

I never have this problem Perhaps because I never eat before visiting people

Sweet... {#emotions_dlg.lol_fast}

So what do foreigners expect?

1. We expect you to know that most of us have no idea about your traditions and the differences between our and your social structure.

2. We expect you to know that we have no money to burn. If we had, we would be on the Seychelles.

3. We expect you to know the meaning of "NO" and take it seriously.

4. We expect to be listened to whenever we are having a discussion.

5. We expect you to know that if you are loud it doesn´t mean that you are right and that saying the same thing over and over again doesn´t change any situation.

6. We expect not to be stared at just because our haircolor and height are different.

7. We expect you to know that in other places of the world it is considered rude not to look into the eyes of the person you are talking to to. Even if you are a girl and the other is a guy.

8. We expect you to know that smiling is a sign of good will and not the sign of "I wanna get laid."

9. We expect not to hear sentences like "Foreigners are so gross, you can fuck their spouse in front of their eyes, they wouldn´t say a thing" in a Reality show on national TV.

10. We expect you to expect that we have too many expectations but we don´t care about those too much. So take it easy, maaaan.

That would be all for know. Take care guys! {#emotions_dlg.flowers}

quite interesting, i meant very interesting. enjoyed reading it, not boring in comparison to some

however I would have questions re: some of your points.

#4 is interesting. what do you mean? they dont listen to you? why? is it because of you are a woman?

#5 is typical to southern eastern culture.

#6 well, I cant handle that, I stare at people too.

#7 Agree with that. It is rude. ( once wanted a samosa from a pakistani shop, the guy even didnt look at me handing the bag).

well i will have to add some of my own:

1. I agree with the toilets... please, regular western toilets everywhere!!

2. I expect of some turks to take showers more often, in fact everyday would be awesome it doesnt matter if it´s winter... also changing your clothing more often will help to avoid bad smell{#emotions_dlg.scared}

3. again i have to agree with some people about the food... i am NOT hungry at all times and when i am i dont want to eat a whole cow{#emotions_dlg.confused}

4. I expect them not to talk bad about my western habits just because they are not the same as theirs, I don´t do it with theirs{#emotions_dlg.unsure}

5. I expect the car drivers to treat pedestrians as they deserve in a polite and very protective way, not throwing the car at them and almost running them over{#emotions_dlg.get_you}

6. to butchers at the supermarket: it is not necessary that you scream and yell that you sell sucuk and salam... I am at a supermarket i know i can find these here!{#emotions_dlg.lol}

7. i expect them to continue giving me a wet towel everytime i finish my meal at a restaurant... it is really good{#emotions_dlg.bigsmile}

8. lemon cologne reminds me of bathroom and floor cleaning product please dont try to put it all over me everytime you want{#emotions_dlg.confused}

9. more chicken döner, içli köfte, and french fries everywhereee... keep up the good job!Cool

Yeah...the staring...the strange thing is, it´s always old Turkish ladies that seem to stare the most at me. Like they know me or something. Sometimes they even walk around a bit, so they can stare at my face longer. Minutes and minutes of staring! The first time I ran to a mirror to check if there was something on my face. The guys, they seem to stare less at my face {#emotions_dlg.get_you}

For some time I´ve wondered why there is this group of old Turkish staring women... Do I resemble the typical Turkish long-lost cousin-type girl or something?

Anyway, non-old Turkish ladies staring doesn´t bother me. I stare right back
