What can you recommend?

Nifrtity, you are making small mistakes with vowel harmony and spelling.

I think for most questions, unless you know the person well, use "siniz".

Ne tavsiye edersiniz? = What would you recommend?

Neyi önersiniz? = What would you suggest?

(Ne tavsiye edebilirsiniz? = What can you recommend?)

I think the last sentence (in brackets) is not used as much in English.

The rest is for you.

Rahata olsun ,(another answer) Rahata için sana olsun

-------------------------------------------------------------

Nifritty, what do you mean by " The rest is for you? "

If you mean "keep the change " , I mean you want waiter keep the change of the money then that would be  ;

" Üstü kalsın."

Clue ;  When you translate something from English to Turkish, Try to start translating from the end.

I want to go to school.

1. school --> okul

2. to school --> okula

3. go to ---> gitmek

4. I want --> Istiyorum

Okula gitmek istiyorum.

This doesnt work like this all the time. But most of the time it works..

This is also a useful method for sentences with "için".

English XXX for YYY

Turkish YYY için XXX

I bought a present for you

Senin için bir hediye aldım

My guess is that this sentence means -

The rest (of the food / or drink) is for you.

You can eat or drink what is left (because I am full, çünkü doydum)

You can finish (eating) it.

 Good logic Henry..! I like it..

Evet, it looks like it works with "için".

The exceptional point would be as we all know in poems and lyrics this method might fail since the sentences in poems are tend to be inverted,changed order of the words which is very natural. Such as ;

For you I bought a present.  ----> Aldım senin için bir hediye.

A present that hides my fears in.  ----> O Hediye ki korkularımı içinde gizler. [saklar]

------------------------------------------------------------

the two line verses above are made up by me .. I know they sound weird...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
