Yürüyerek geldim -----> [literally " I came by walking] which means " I came on foot "

Otobüsle geldim -------> I came by bus  -----> Otobüs + ile ---->  Otobüsle

Trenle geldim ----------> I came by train  ---> Tren + ile ---> Trenle

Uçakla geldim ----------> I came by plane ----> Uçak + ile ---> Uçakla

 

- erek, arak---> this suffix also mean just - ing

Gülerek geldi ---> He/She came smiling.

Ağlayarak gitti ----> She/He left crying.

Sola dön ---> turn to the left     or  [Sola sap]

Sağa dön ---> turn to the right  or [ Sağa sap ]

Düz git ------> go straight

Dümdüz git ----->  go straight ahead

Devam et ------> carry on

Düz devam et ---> carry on straight

Bayağı uzak -----> quite far

Yürüyerek kaç dakika sürer acaba ?

I wonder how long it takes by walk [on foot] ?

10 dakika sürer ----> it takes 10 minutes

further on ----------> ileride

100 metre ileride -----> 100 metres further down

Postaneden ilk sola dön ----> Take the first turn into the right from the postoffice.

Yerinde olsaydım giderdim -----> [literally " if I was in your place, I would go] which means "if I were you , I would go."

Bugün erken gelseydin O´nu görebilirdin ------> " if you came earlier, you would be able to see him/her.

Istanbul´u görseydin çok severdin --------> "if you had seen İstanbul, you would love it "

Keşke ----> I wish, If only

Keşke gelse ----> I wish he/she comes.

Keşke gelseydi ---> I wish he/she came.[had come]

Keşke burada olsan ---> I wish you are here.

Keşke burada olsaydın ---> I wish you were here.

Keşke gitmeseydin -------> I wish he/she didnt gone [ hadnt gone]

Keşke hiç tanışmasaydık ! ---> I wish we had never met !

Kendim ---> myself

Kendin ----> Yourself

Kendisi------> himself/herself/itself

Kendimiz-----> ourselves

Kendiniz -----> yourselves

Kendileri ------> themselves

Bu arabayı kendim için aldım ----> I bought this car for myself

Kendine iyi bak -------> Look after yourself

Toplantıya kendisi gitti ----> He himself went to the meeting

Bu keki kendimiz yaptık -----> We made this cake ourselves.

Kendilerini beğeniyorlar -----> They like themselves.

Bunu kendi kendime yaptım ----> I done this all by myself.

Seninle zaman su gibi akıyor = [ literally " time flows like a water with you" ] which means " Time flows so quick with you"       " Time passes so quick with you "

Time passes so quick when I am with you.

Time flies when I am with you

 

In Tksh time flows like a river, in English it flies like a bird!!!

Hmm. There´s an Alan Parsons song which says:

Time flowing like a river, Time beckoning me. Who knows when we shall meet again, if ever But time, keeps flowing like a river, to the sea. 

 

Isn´t he English?

 

In Turkish we say

"Zaman su gibi aktı/akıyor" = Time flows/has flowed like water.

Uykum geldi ---> I feel sleepy

Uykuya dalmak ---> to fall asleep.

Uykum kaçtı ------> My sleep´s gone, I lost my sleep..

Uykum çok ağır ----> [literarly "my sleep is very heavy] " which means " I dont wake up easly"

Uykum çok hafif -----> [literarly " My sleep is very light "] which means " I wake up quite easly ]

Uykun mu var ? -------> Are you sleepy ?

Uykusuzluk ------------> Sleeplessness

Uykusuzum ------------> I didnt sleep enough or at all

Uykucu ----------------> The person who likes sleeping.

İyİ uykular -------------> Have a good sleep

Bu konser uykumu getirdi -----> This concert made me sleepy
