The " ıp,ip,up,üp " Ending ;
In English we sometimes skip some words when we build a sentence in which there are more than one action. For example ;
This morning I opened the door and I went out the garden. [ Instead of saying this way we miss out the "second I " , we drop the second " I " in the sentence ,as thats´
This morning I opened the door and went out the garden.
In Turkish, you can do something smilar, but where you miss a bit out, you insert a signal to let people know you are skipping something. The signal is the ending " ip,ıp,up,üp "
Examples ;
Tomorrow I will go to the cinema and I will visit my mother.
Tomorrow I will go to the cinema and visit my mother.
1. Yarın sinemaya gideceğim ve annemi ziyaret edeceğim.
2. Yarın sinemaya gidip annemi ziyaret edeceğim.
As you see above, in the second sentence, the first -acağım has gone ,and -ip is in its place. The " ve " is also missing.
Some more examples,
Pazara git ve bir kilo patates al ---> Pazara gidip bir kilo patates al.
Babasına koştu ve onu öptü -----> Babasına koşup onu öptü.
Oturuyoruz ve çay içiyoruz -------> Oturup çay içiyoruz.
Kapıyı kapatır mısınız ve buraya gelir misiniz ? --> Kapıyı kapatıp buraya gelir misiniz ?
O beni gördü ve gülümsedi ---> O beni görüp gülümsedi.
