I am sick of the mistakes that I make in basic structures. That´s why I thought I should for the change take a step back and try something simple. That´s the only reason it is not very red this time.

I never really understood when the infinitive in front of için takes a POSS and when not. Maybe you could explain it to me. There are two examples here:

Of course the latter is general in meaning, the subject is anyone. Suppose there was a definite subject there, for instance ben

              Bir itfaiyeci olma____ için yüzebilmem gerekir mi?

would the infinitive be asking for a POSS?

You can use possesive or you can use it in its infinitive form. Both make sense here.

It seems that I often see indefinite objects in places where Turkish prefers definite ones.

Ok, I can understand that a noun that is marked with indefinite article in English is not necessarily indefinite in Turkish but the combination of Turkish bir and accusative ending always surprises me (even though I have seen it many times):

The ground floor contains the reception rooms and private apartments. Upstairs are the bedrooms and guestrooms. Marble steps lead from the ground floor to the tower, from which there is a magnificent view of Naantali and the inshore islands.
