im from lincolnshire and 18, you? well i started learning because there was this cute turkish boy at the takeaway i fancied and i wanted to get him to notice me...well to cut it short my plan worked and now im learning in more detail so i can understand his family when they talk in turkish, and because it seems a really interesting laungage.
i must admit i also love the shock factor, turkish people in england just dont expect you to talk it! i remember when me and my boyfriend and another turkish man were sat in a resturant and my boyfriend called 'askim' so i replied, and this other turkish man said 'you understand that?!', so i said 'tabii, aptal degilim turkce biliyorum' and his face was such a picture! of course i then had to explain i only know a little bit cos he suddenly started talking away in turkish to me lol

O.K. I really appreciate the translation. Now I have to reply. Would someone please be kind enough to translate this sentence?

"You walked into my life to stop my tears and everything's easy now that you're in my heart....In a world without you I would always hunger, all I need is your love to make me stronger."

Thank you from the bottom of my heart

i will give this a go but i don't think it will be good enough to use, so pls wait for someone else!

you walked into my life - hayatımin içine yürüdün
everythings easy now you are in my heart - şimdi kalbimdesin herşey kolaydır
in a world without you - sensiz dünyada

sorry thats all i can do, and i doubt that its right anyway but hey i had fun trying!

Thanking you in advance :-S

'if they give the stars to my hand, the sun to my hand...again i give up from you', i should definatly get a second opinion though!

Quoting Lindaxxx:

I had 'Teach Yourself Turksih' as a Christmas Present. I am finding it very good. The exercises are a great help. Is there a follow on book to it?

Did you both have a good understanding afer reading this book? I know a lot of Tükçe words already, It's just learning to put them all together now.

yeah i had quite a good understanding after reading this book, i must admit when i read chapters in 'learn turkish in 3 months', i didnt manage to take it all in so didnt really learn, yet when i read chapters in 'teach yourself turkish' it seemed to sink in, i think the exercises help a lot as well as the dialogues. unfortunatly i had to rush through this book as i borrowed it from my boyfriends cousin, but i think most of it sunk in!

can anyone recommend any helpful books to learn turkish grammer? ive read 'teach yourself turkish'(which is a great book btw, it has great exercises to do) and 'learn turkish in 3 months'(which was good but very 'blocky' texts and kinda hard to read).
has anyone read any other useful books, because i am determined to master this language!
