Well the (I ) suffix is the causative, we use when we want to refer to specific thing.
For example,
İ drank water.
Su içtim......... that means,i as a human being drank water,but
Suyu içtim... means there was specific glass of water,for example you brought for me,and i tell you i drank it.

Can be like that.
There are many persons,and you want to draw his attention.
Or at some sentences which you cann't add suffix,like to say,
Sen ve ben.
But in other places you can add the suffix,and you don't have to add sen if you don't want,but if you added it,its not wrong too.
