And don't worry,you would understand what they say to you,once your ears be familir with the accent and langauge,and that would be in no time too,all what you have to do,is try to talk,once you start,i guess everything would be ok

I don't know how i can explain this but it is not itmek

It is for past, and we do not use it much separated.

öğrenci idim=öğrenciydim: i was a student
öğretmen idim=öğretmendim: i was a teacher
heyecanlı idim=heyecanlıydım: i was excited
kızgın idi=kızgındı: he was angry
genç idin=gençtin: you were young
küçük idi=küçüktü: it was little
mühendis idik=mühendistik: we were engineers
asker idiniz=askerdiniz: you were soldiers



Let me try,

İn fact it is not edim,it is dim,because the verb here is
beklemek,so the verb steem is bekle ,(di ) here is the past tense of the verb and (m ) is the first person kişi eki
that is the case of the verb bekledim

As for mutluydum, mutlu here is adjective,
And this rule goes with both adjectives and nouns

İt is like V.to be in English
The V.to be Türkçede is olmak and we use it with nouns and adjectives
And it goes like this

Ben... (y)Im
Sen.... sIn
O....... nothing
Biz.....(y) Iz
Siz..... sInIz
Onlar...lAr

mutlum.... i am happy
öğrenciyim.... i am student
kızgınsın.....you are angry
And go on...

And it can be in the past too,but in that case we don't change the kişi eki,we add the past tense suffix which is (DI )

mutluydum....i was happy
öğrenciydim....i was a student

(y) here is a buffer,if there was a vowel we add (y) before we add the past suffix (DI )

But this only goes with nouns and adjectives

With verbs we don't add (y ) buffer,we add the suffix (DI ) directly
beklemek...bekledim

İ don't know why :-S
But that is the rule,anyone can explain why ?

Eylem

İt written in the description of Şimdiki zaman in HİTİT for instance

Olumlu:

eylem + (I )yor + kişi eki

Then verb steem called eylem

Doğru mu ?

,what would be their gain of doing such thing

They definetly won't gain anything in the other world except being in Hell

Children's books are easy to read

That is stating a general case ,so i think
