no harm on mindfull nationalism unless turn on racism, and a strong world citizenship's road pass on peacfull nationalism..

I personally just think that nationalism shouldn't be fed in schools

This vow (Andımız) should be abolished..
It is quite embarressing!!

I agree. Or at least it should be modified and presented less frequent. What's wrong with just saying it at the start of a new schoolyear. Or each semester if you really can't help it.

I love the msnless days I enjoy whilst being in Turkey! I dont feel the need to check my email or whatsoever. I keep my Dutch cellphone closed, and there's just a few people who ring me on my Turkish cell. They don't bother to text anyway because they know Im always too lazy to buy kontör so I cant reply (I love faturalı phones like I have in the Netherlands!).

But as soon as I get back to Hollandi, the first thing I do is open my laptop. It's sad really

Here is my attempt of translating it so that other members can understand it too:

Türküm, doğruyum, çalışkanım,
I am Turk, I am honest, I am hard working

İlkem; küçüklerimi korumak, büyüklerimi saymak, yurdumu, milletimi özümden çok sevmektir.
My principle is to protect the small, to respect the big, to love my country and my people more than I love myself

Ülküm; yükselmek, ileri gitmektir.
My ideal is to (improve), to move forward/to progress

Ey Büyük Atatürk!
Hey Great Atatürk!

Açtığın yolda, gösterdiğin hedefe durmadan yürüyeceğime ant içerim.
I promise solemnly to walk on the road you have opened, to the goal you have showed, without stopping

Varlığım Türk varlığına armağan olsun.
May my existence be a gift to the Turkish existence

Ne mutlu Türküm diyene!"
How happy for the one who says 'I am a Turk'!

Please correct me where I am wrong.

I remember when I first heard about this, when I still didnt speak Turkish well.

I thought that doğru = haklı. Şaşırdım ve aslında kızdım How could they make children say that they are always 'right', without having had a taste of life, or without teachign them it is good to learn to accept that you can be wrong sometimes too But later I learnt that doğru also had the meaning of just, honest

I would love to lock the thread now. Though I have asked you all to stop it, you keep on discussing. Yet, if I close it, I will be accused of making people 'mouth dead' and that this wasn't even worth it to be locked. Or you will accuse me of not letting you practise your freedom of speech, or that I am one-sided. There is always a complaint. Apparantly I can never moderate well enough. Lead by example? I did not enter this debate, I only asked you all to give a break. But nobody listens. So what does my example matter, really?

So this is your last call: Stop this useless discussion. As I have said Teaschip, if you have any problems with a moderator for any reason whatsoever, let me know.

Thank you. That was enough mud for today I'd say

Anyway people, this is enough.

1. If you have any complaints about a member, solve it with the person him/herself through PM, or if that doesn't work out you can contact one of the administrators or moderators. We will see what we can do.

2. If you have complaints about a moderator, you can contact one of the administrators and we will discuss with moderator in question.

3. If you have complaints about a specific administrator you can address one of the other two.

Please no public mudfight about who did what and when and who is stubborn, and who does or who does not post and read links, because this way you are never going to find a sollution for it. You will only create a bigger feeling of discontent on the website, which is exactly what we are trying to fight here!

Thank you for your cooperation.
