The gay clubs played all these golden oldies and loads of 60-70-90's. Whereas in the other clubs I go to, they usually play top40, hiphop and trance-dance.

And I had the same reaction when seeing men walk arm in arm, or kissing each other when they see each other again. In Holland not even all women do it all the time!

Anyway as an explanation: there is absolutely nothing wrong with saying Ne mutlu TÃ¼rkÃ¼m diyene, and there is nothing wrong either to be proud of where you come from. Actually, I think it is a good thing. But I hope you understand that someone who is NOT Turkish, does not really want to be named 'Turk'. I love the word TÃ¼rkiyeli. That doesnt mean that one who is TÃœRK has to call himself TÃ¼rkiyeli. It just means that someone of other ethnicity who lives in Turkey, and who loves Turkey as if it were their own roots, can use it I will be the first to say: Ne mutlu TÃ¼rkiyeliyim diyene! I am not Turkish, but something tells me that I love your country as dearly as you do, Janis

This is a nice proverb

However, it doesn't really match the way most people use 'Ne mutlu TÃ¼rkÃ¼m diyene'. It prooves my point that I made long time ago, that it is time to start saying 'TÃ¼rkiyeli'. Or at least, that it should be accepted that some people prefer to say it that way.

Im not Turkish. I said so, just to show you how irrelevant it can be where you come from. For me, it means nothing that I am Dutch/English. It is not something that makes me happy. But I feel and think as a westerner. After having lived in İzmir, I love like a Turk and that is what makes me happy
