Thread: 'meantime' - how to translate?

How can you translate the word 'meantime'?

Like:

- In the meantime a lot has changed.

I tried to compose a simular sentence but couldnt get a fitting translation for the word meantime.

I just mean the time 'in between the last time we spoke and now'.

One small correction I found

I think that is different though! I ate both, and maraş icecream is wonderful, but I didnt like the famous Damla sakızlı icecream of Ã‡eşme.

As far as the article mentions the icecream being cut, I know that you can cut Maraş icecream because it is REALLY strong. You just sort of 'bite' it off your icecream, but damla sakızlı is very sticky.

I am certainly sure that damla sakızlı contains mastic, but I dont know about maraş. I think that it is thickned by sahlep (powder).

Anyway I vote for the latter!

Just a small addition: the type of icecream described in the article is not 'dondurma', as dondurma is the normal translation for icecream in general. Thus also the icecream that doesnt contain 'mastic', which is mentioned in the article.

Icecream with mastic is found around Ã‡eşme a lot and can be bought under the name 'damla sakızlı' (with drops of gum).

Actually I have never really heard the word 'mastic' being used in Turkey (however it is used in greece), most people refer to it as 'damla sakızlı dondurma' and can be bought in all possible tastes.

That is only because they have been sixteen too, and know that things are so 'changeable' at that time, and how different they look upon things now.

But as was said before, if you were really mature, you would stop being concerned about maturity. It even seems as if youre worried whether it's clear to others or not. Who cares?

It has nothing to do with 'adults' seeing you as 'lower'. All they do is remember their days of that age, and laugh at how they though they had figured it all out.

They dont call it 'Sweet sixteen' for nothing, dear.

A second thing you might want to give a thought. Do you really think it is possible to have a 'type' to fall in love with? Don't you think it is something that either just hits you at first sight (and have had no chance to actually think about it), or you fall for someone you've known for a long time, and only yet have come to see things you didnt see before?

It is risky to think what type of boy you would ever fall for. Because the only thing it could possibly lead to, is affection for someone just because they meet the standarts you had set up in your mind rationality before.

Maybe your eyes will be set on all the foreign boys at a party, just because you qualify them as 'your type'. But then you take the risk of overlooking that one sweet american boy who might just have all inside him what really matters to you. But you forget to look at him.

There may be a lot of rationality (needed) in relationships and marriages, but love itself is a matter of the heart.
