Thank you for all the responses. I didn't know so many people also really have lived there. When i saw the pictures in the magazines, i must say i indeed was shocked a little. It's hard for me to understand he comes from such a place. His childhood has been SO extremely different from mine. But i like to learn about it And about all the places as well

Hehe yeah well i just think that learning the country and his inhabitants is part of learning the language. Plus, if i want to live in Turkey, i think i should have the knowledge of the country itself a bit too.

I read an article in a magazine about Diyarbakır, it's the place where my bf grew up before they moved to Ankara. He now lives in Izmir and i doubt if he has family in Diyarbakır. I was just interested in the place that he came from and i read this article. I would REALLY like to see this city. I know about the poverty, but it also looks like a place where poverty and wealth, pleasure and grief, modern and tradition, old and new meet. I also read about the place Bismil with their special plate, that sounded extremely delicious.

I would just like to see more of Turkey than the western and tourist areas.

Kadir told me it's not such a good idea to go to Diyarbakır now. Can someone explain to me why? (he is busy with exams so i don't wanna bother him ). Except for the birdflu, tho i don't know whether it's there.

You are right about the bookmarking. But some (most) of my classes are extremely boring, and im getting kinda bored of reading the turkish dictionary all the time and making wordlists that i never get to study by heart anyways, so i thought i might try reading some of those I prefer to read printed papers over internetpages anyhoo.

But I'll definitely start bookmarking them too, good idea!

The html-codes that work in this forum are really easy so it's not so hard to understand them. If you don't understand something, click right-mouse and click 'show source'.. then it opens a wordpad that shows the 'content' of that webpage. You can scroll and see how the codes work.
