Hey there

I have been trying to find an earlier thread concerning this, but i think these former forums are not quite alike my question.

"Benim az saattim var ona göre".. one of my friends told me, that this means "I don´t have so much time, just so you know

But nonetheless this "just so you know" is not really what i get from my dictionary.. I got something with "accordingly". Is it possible that someone could explain to me perhaps just some of the difference usages of these two words? Thank you very much !

Another way of looking at it:

this  could be the answer to a question like "why aren´t you coming out for a drink tonight?" and the ona göre here equates to "because" or "that´s why".

Agree with all the other comments, too.

1. ona göre can be: according to him/her, in his/her opinion if the "o" refers to a person

2. ona göre can mean: that is how it is

3. ona göre can means: according to that thing, that´s why, because if the "o" refers to a reason.

Sert kayaya çarpmak - to hit a hard rock

guess our saying was invented by a city-dweller, the Turkish by a villager

One English expression is ´missed the boat´ if it´s a missed opportunity. ´I/you/he/we missed the boat´ but its not really used to make fun of someone.

 Another similar pair:

To shut the stable door after the horse has bolted

At alını çoktan Üsküdar´ı geçmiş
