This is the type of men I simply hate..

Swearing, degrading, blackmailing, threatening women.. Typical primitive ape like, racist man..

..Puking

Obviously the man in Trudy´s post has serious mental health issues. Just consider yourself fortunate that you´re not in his shoes. It´s soooo easy to put a label on somebody.

Do you know each other?

I think people use "siz" when they talk to someone they dont know/older than them.

^

am i wrong then? ><

Well it´s somebody related to somebody I know. I think I´ll ask next time to be on the safe side. Big smile

Thanks.

You are right it is too confusing. I am a Turkish person but sometimes I  live the same situation, too. you can ask "sen dememin bir sakýncasý var mý?" or "siz mi yoksa sen mi dememi istersiniz?"

We use sen with informal speech and siz with formal...

Thank you! Big smile

I like the second one better, it seems easier to remember.

How can one ask in Turkish whether it´s ok to use the sen vs siz with that person? I was talking with someone who is my age, so I used sen, but he used siz back to me, so I switched to siz and then he switched to sen. Too confusing and I had no idea how to ask lol. I hope I wasn´t too rude. Head bang

Thank you.

ok random question

I am translating a recipe  from my turkish recipe book and am fine with the words , but am getting confused with the measurements..

The recipe is using water glass..tea glass...and coffe cup as measuremnts for almost everything  . (both liquid and solid food).. i know that obvioulsy the turkish tea glasses are much smaller than ours, but does anyone have a clue what it might be equal to . i cant figure out how much , oil , milk butter , flour etc to use

if i use my tea or coffe cup it would be very very wrong lol

You can find the measurements here.

Quoting garie

can someone give me a recipe or idea what should i prepare for breakfast. what is the most delicious turkish food breakfast.. thanks

I like:

- Kaygana (I added feta and parsley to it, it was delicious)

- Menemen (scrambled eggs with veggies)

Sigara Böreði (delicious but a bit time consuming, the diced tomatoes really are a nice touch)

Here are some other ideas for breakfast.

Afiyet olsun!

Pope: condoms not the answer in AIDS fight

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE – Pope Benedict XVI said Tuesday that the distribution of condoms is not the answer in the fight against AIDS in Africa.

Benedict has never before spoken explicitly on condom use although he has stressed that the Roman Catholic Church is in the forefront of the battle against AIDS. (Oh yeah?) The Vatican encourages sexual abstinence to fight the spread of the disease. (Brilliant idea! You crazy?)

"You can´t resolve it with the distribution of condoms," the pope told reporters aboard the Alitalia plane headed to Yaounde, Cameroon. "On the contrary, it increases the problem." What the hell!

Some priests and nuns working with victims of the AIDS pandemic ravaging Africa question the church´s opposition to condoms.

...

He said that while the church does not propose specific economic solutions, it can give "spiritual and moral" suggestions. (Gee, thanks Benny Flowers  )

Describing the current crisis as the consequence of "a deficit of ethics in economic structures," the pope said, "It is here that the church can make a contribution." (Again Benny, your generosity is overwhelming!)

Another example how religion hurts people.
