Quoting clear blue

can somebody help me translate this poem into Turkish

                             Fire and Ice

                                  ~    ~

Some say the world will end in fire,

                    Some say ice.

From what I´ve tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice

Is also great

And would suffice.

BY Robert Frost

Here´s the translation of the poem.

Hi chicavieja))

have you ever tried

http://www.learn-spanish-online.de/ for Spanish or  both for Turkish and Spanish Foreign Service Institute courses?

can be found at www.fsi-language-courses.org

FSI has good books with recordings ,perhaps it could be a kind of help for you.

good luck with both languages, both are beautiful, aren´t they?

Thanks for the FSI link. I bought the basic FSI Spanish course a while back and it was about $80. If I knew there was a website that had the materials for free .....Head bang

Thread: Turkey, Armenia agree to establish diplomatic ties

This just in:

"YEREVAN, Armenia – Armenia and Turkey agreed Monday to final talks aimed at establishing diplomatic relations and resolving a seemingly intractable rift that dates to the massacres of Armenians under Ottoman rule nearly 100 years ago.

Both sides said in a joint statement they expected the talks to take six weeks and to end with an agreement setting up and developing ties.

Armenian President Serge Sarkisian, however, has indicated the long-running dispute over the World War I-era killings of Armenians would not be a deal-breaker between the two neighbors..."

I was very excited to read this news and I feel this is a step in the right direction. I´m curious how the Turkish members feel about it.

I think it should be required that everyone here in the U.S. have proper id.  Not only Muslims but Arabs, Mexicans etc..I don´t know why Muslims would be special though...Big smile

You don´t know why? Because Tami thinks that all Americans think that all Muslims are terrorists. You crazy?

why don`t you prove us that I`ve said "ALL Americans hate muslims". go ahead and look through all the pages. let`s see if you will be able to find it.

speaking of embarassing yourself, you`re making a show out of it now. <img src='/static/images/smileys//lol.gif' alt='lol'> (fast)

You know what, you´re right, you didn´t say it in this thread (neither did I state that you said it by the way). I take the "ALL" back. I´m not going to go thru all of your posts to check if you said it before, if you didn´t say it, then I´m sure you´ve implied it many a times. And certainly that seems to be the impression you give out. Which, if it isn´t your actual opinion, is very pathetic indeed.

Who´s the main actor of the show is not for me to decide. I´m sure many members share my sentiments even if I don´t go about making my point in the most effective way.

According to a new Gallup poll, 39% of Americans believe that the government should force Muslims to carry a special form of I.D.

http://jdallen.org/politics/2-out-of-5-americans-believe-muslims-should-carry-special-id/

that seems like a very objective observation to me. you have doubts?

now that`s the reason why I told you to keep your personality assesment skills for yourself, because you embarass yourself.

It´s hard to tell how objective the poll was as the link to the actual poll comes up empty. I couldn´t even find it on the Gallup Poll site. Must be quite outdated.

And again, it´s hard to conclude that ALL Americans HATE Muslims where you come up with 39% ESTIMATE based on a poll. Not to mention that the question had nothing to do with hate. That´s what I mean by YOUR lack of objectivity. You take something and twist it to fit your agenda.

By the way 39% is not all, not even half, not even the majority. I thought you might want to know.

Speaking of embarassing onself, you would know, being an expert at it. You crazy?

I`m not making a judgement, I`m talking about an objective observation. The ethical aspect of Americans`s hating muslims is not my concern.

by the way, keep your personality assesment skills for yourself.

That made me laugh out loud.

Wow, you do have a sense of humor. Who would have thought!?

And by the way, don´t tell me what to do, as long as I´m within guidelines I´ll post whatever I want. Big smile

Thread: Giving Flowers to a Turkish Man

Quoting Clover

He is not in a hospital.  He is not super sick.  I only wanted to show caring from far away.  Here in USA, I would make him my best cure of chicken soup and deliver it personally of course. ..and still probably bring him flowers to cheer him up.

I think flowers are nice. I have sent it in the past to male friends with different results - some loved it, others felt it wasn´t "manly".  I think showing caring when somebody is sick is a perfect occassion to send flowers regardless of gender - it´s not like you´re sending him roses to profess your undying love (in that case I´d say wait for him to send the flowers lol). Anyway, if you´re hesitant to send the flowers, I´d send some sweets or something like that - just makes sure not to send anything with gelatin if he doesn´t eat pork products.
