I think edebilir in past tense is "could have" "would have"  if the opportunity arose,Edebilirdi "He,She,It "should" have known "  I think the distinction between "edebilirdi" and "edebildi" is "could have" and "should have" respectively.

Sorry,also meant to add, the slaughtering of sheep upon a given day is also not part of these festivals? Ead, Eid etc?

Yes thank you I knew that, what I was pointing out was the ´literal´ translation, of sacrificing one´s own family anyway not important iyi bayramlar!!

This has been well explained but it goes like this whack the suffix ´ip´ on the end of a word carry one and the ´ip´ part basically replaces the ´ve´ part good luck
