İngiltere´de Kral 3. Richard´ın iskeleti bulundu

Geçenlerde, İngiltere´nin Leicester şehrinde, bir otoparkın altında bir iskelet bulunmuştu. Leicester Üniversitesi´nden arkeologlar bu iskelet üzerinde araştırma yaptılar.  DNA testi yapıldı ve iskeletin, 528 yıl önce ölen Kral 3. Richard´a ait olduğu bulundu. Arkeolog Richard Taylor, bugün düzenlenen basın toplantısında "Hiç şüphe yok ki bu Richard. Bugün, Leicester için tarihi bir gün" dedi. 

3. Richard, 1485´te Bosworth Savaşı´nda, 32 yaşında hayatını kaybetmişti. Mezarı 16. yüzyılda kaybolmuştu.

If the sentence was İskelet Kral 3. Richard´a ait oldu, it would be correct, but by using the abil suffix to mean can/may belong to, the sentence lacks certainty. It is therefore considered incorrect, because the experts are certain this is the skeleton of King Richard III.

yes, by saying "olabilir" we add incertainity and probability to the meaning while it is definite in the article.

The correct form is "İskelet Kral 3. Richard´a ait."

-- In turkish the verb "to be" is literally "olmak" but "am, is, are" or "was,were" are used as suffixes added to the noun or adjective.

for example: "güzel olmak"= "to be beautiful"

Ben güzelim. (I am beautiful)

Sen güzelsin.

O güzel.

etc...

-- You can also think of "ait olmak" like this."ait" is a noun.

Ben sana aitim. (I belong to you)
