Turkish Proverbs:
- Çok mal/ para haramsız, çok laf yalansız olmaz: ıt is impossible to become rich withoutmoney illegitimately acquired, ill-gotten gains, much talks means much lies.
- Ofke ile kalkan zararla oturur = He who gets up (starts up) in anger, sits down with a loss.
- Bilmemek ayip degil, sormamak ayip = It is not disgraceful not to know, it is disgraceful not to ask.
- Ne ekersen, o´nu bicersin= You harvest what you sow.You will reap whatever you sow.
- Doğru söyleyeni dokuz köyden kovarlar : The one who speaks truth would be expelled from nine villages.
- Fala inanma falsız kalma : Don´t believe in foretellings but don´t stay without them.
- Gülü seven dikenine katlanır : Who loves a rose will endure its thorns.
- Mühür kimde ise Süleyman odur : Whoever has the Seal, he is Solomon [the prophet].
- Papaz her gün pilav yemez : The priest does not eat rice every day.
- Parayla imanın kimde olduğu belli olmaz : It is unclear who has money and who faith.
- Sabır acıdır, meyvesi tatlıdır : Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.
- Tavşan dağa küsmüş, dağın haberi olmamış : The hare (rabbit) was offended with the mountain, but the mountain did not notice.
- Umut fakirin ekmeğidir : Hope is the bread of the poor.
- Yüzü güzel olanın huyu da güzel olur : Who has a beautiful face has a beautiful character too.
- En iyi karar, verilmiş karardir : The best desicion is a made one.
- Cahile söz anlatmak, deveyi hendekten atlatmaktan zordur : Explaining something to an ignorant person is harder than making a camel jump over a ditch.
- İyi diyelim iyi olsun :Wish well, be well.

-Sana dedikodu yapan, senin hakkında da dedikodu yapar Who gossips to you will gossip about yıou.
-Ağacı kurt, insanı dert yer : It is worms which destroy a tree, it is worry which destroys a human.
--Akılları pazara çıkarmışlar, herkes kendi aklını beğenmiş : They put up minds for sale on the market, everyone liked his own mind. (Variant: Everyone put up his mind for sale on the market, and liked his own mind.)
-Ana gibi yar, vatan gibi diyar olmaz : There is no lover like mothers nor place like homeland.
-Ayıpsız dost arayan dostsuz kalır: A man who seeks a perfect friend, will remain friendless.
-Babası oğluna bir bağ bağışlamış, oğul babaya bir salkım üzüm vermemiş : The father donated a vineyard to his son, the son didn´t give a bunch of grapes to the father.
-Bana arkadaşını söyle, sana kim olduğunu söyleyeyim : Tell me who your friend is, and I will tell you who you are.
-Başkasına fenalık eden kendine etmiş olur : He who does evil to another, has done it to himself.
-Bekara karı boşamak kolay : Divorcing a wife is easy for a single guy.
-Bir kanatla kuş uçmaz : A bird will not fly with one wing.
-Dağ dağa kavuşmaz,insan insana kavuşur : Mountain won´t meet mountain, but man will meet man.
-Davulun sesi uzaktan hoş gelir : The sound of drums sounds nicely from far away.
-Gökyüzünde düğün var deseler, kadınlar merdiven kurmaya kalkar: If they say there is a wedding in the sky, women would try to put up a ladder.
-Hatasiz Kul Olmaz : Flawless human is impossible : No body is perfect.
-Her şeyin yenisi, dostun, şarabın eskisi : Every thing is best when new, a friend and wine are best when old.
-Hocanın vurduğu yerde gül biter : A rose will sprout from the place where a teacher has hit.: No learning without beating.

Çok muhabbet tez ayrılık getirir : insanlarla iyi geçinmek istiyorsanız onlardan uzak ve saygılı durun.
-Çok söz (laf) yalansız, çok para (mal) haramsız olmaz.
- Gönül ne kahve ister, ne kahvehane; gönül arkadaş ister, kahve bahane: The heart wants neither coffee nor a coffeehouse
or The heart seeks a friend; coffee is just an excuse!
- -Gerçek dost ve arkadaş, kötü günde belli olur. On a bad day it is evident who is the real friend and ally.
- -Ak akçe kara gün içindir White money is for black day.
- One you didn´t do, so my attempt: Zenginlikten ve sıcaktan zarar gelmez. Zarar, fakirlikten ve soğuktan gelir. No harm comes from wealth and warmth. Harm comes from poverty and cold.
-Kimsenin ahı yerde kalmaz: Nobody´s sigh remains on the ground
- Öğüt veren çoktur, para veren yoktur: There are many giving advice, (but) there are none giving money.
-Çalışan kazanır : He/she who works earns.
-Kimse kimsenin derdini sormaz : Nobody asks about nobody’s trouble
- Eden bulur : He/she who does finds.
