The above sentences are sort of general truths, they prescribe the probable result of an action. The set of suffixes seems to be AOR + -sA in the first part, AOR in the second part.

I was wondering how to build a similar sentence in the past tense. I understand the nature of the condition changes, it is more about something that has happened for real. So how would we say for instance

                         The less I ate the angrier I got

                         The more Ali worked the more he spent time out of home ?

Does past tense show in both parts of the sentence?

For past tense,

Nearest translation for past tense would be ;

Ne kadar az yedim o kadar çok asabileştim.

Ali ne kadar [çok] çalıştı o kadar [çok] evden ayrı kaldı.

Note that we don´t need the conditional ´sA´ anymore as the action is already resulted.

Better sounding Turkish would be with using "dIkça" ;

Az yedikçe asabileştim.

Ali [çok] çalıştıkça  evden [daha çok] ayrı kaldı.

however, this way it changes the meaning a bit into ;

As I ate less I got angerier.

As Ali worked more he spent more time out of home

Actually English is quite strange here  -  using the same the more...the more structure for so different meanings.

become, became = begin to be, grow to be
