what about the people who speak slang in turkish on here? so many times i have seen people, even english people (i can think of one in particular who always uses turkish slang making it extremely hard for me, a beginner, to understand what is being wrote) and no one says a word about their bad grammer or the fact that maybe people are learning turkish off them too. I'm not going to name names but i remember one moderater mentioning it to her yet she still continued...

surely slang is something like 'ooh yea so i like totally luv britney spears ya kno"....saying 'me friend and me' might be bad grammer but i wouldn't call it slang.

Do you mean, "to understand what is being written"?
I can see now that you are right, it is not slang but merely poor grammar and understanding of your own language! Perhaps some of you should learn English first before attempting to learn another language.

Well it seems you two have proved Bod's point . It is a sad fact that the beauty of the English language is disappearing fast thanks to text messages, email and poor education but it is inconsiderate and ignorant to use slang on this website - except maybe in Off-Topic. It is sad that people learning English as a second language have a better use of grammar and vocabulary than native English. Dumb Britain lol!

Hang on there one minute I would just like to point out to you that I was not poorly educated far from it I actually hold a Teachers Diploma in ICT and work full time for the Government, so for you or Bod to say that I am under educated is totally bang out of order, if I choose to say “me and my friend” instead of saying “my friend and I”, that’s my business not yours or bods for that matter. You don't know me so don't feel the need to comment on my education and as for saying "me and my friend" is slang I totally disagree!!

Teachers Diploma? So you will have, of course, noticed your mistake in an earlier post when you used "your" for "you are, or you're"? Yet Mltm, who I believe is Turkish, used the correct "you're" in her post. Ay ay ay.

It seems I touched a nerve It is probably not prudent to mention that your last post was the longest sentence, without punctuation, I have ever seen! lol

If you're going to be that picky about others, perhaps I should mention that you missed out a fullstop, right after the word 'nerve'?
