Thread: Visiting Egypt on Turkish Passport

They keep the same passport; it´s just a new page that gets stamped in their existing passport.  Not sure if it can be done in the UK or at a Turkish airport.  I think it has to be sent in somewhere and it takes 2-3 days for the new stamp.  I am having the same issue; trying to find out if my husband´s passport can be renewed at the embassy here in Canada, or if he has to send it back to Turkey to have this done.  The Turkish embassy in Canada hasn´t been too quick in answering my inquiries.  I´ll ask my husband where he got his previous extension and will write further when I find out.

Why not just get a 1 year renewal before you go, just to be on the safe side?  They will just add the one year onto the existing passport so it is valid until March 2012.  And Turkish passport renewal fees were just reduced as I remember.

What are they talking about??  {#emotions_dlg.you_crazy}

I´ve seen lots of nude sunbathers at different resorts in the south.  Strangely enough, yes, come to think of it, MOST of them were European ...

Is it just that it´s a nudist ONLY resort??

Thanks Barba_mama ... I found some limited information on temporary residence, but they want bank statements, etc to prove you have funds to live there (?? for how long or how much I don´t know).  If I liquidate all my Canadian assets I would be fine, but I just wanted to leave things at home as-is until my husband´s residency here is approved.  That could be a long time though.  I had intended to live with my husband until I could find work there, but this doesn´t sound easy either, so how can I prove I have sufficient funds?  I am not eligible to apply for permanent residency yet as I believe I have to be married 3 years, and it has only been 6 months now.

Does anybody know where I can find some reliable information on residency in  Turkey?  My husband is Turkish, and if he doesn´t get residency in my country, I will move there.  The only problem is I don´t know how the visa rules work ... can I get continual visitor visas and leave Turkey once every 3 months (say, go to Greece for a day and re-enter Turkey)?

I have found a link on this subject before, but I can´t seem to find the information even in the consulate/embassy link now ... please help!!

Thank you both so much {#emotions_dlg.flowers}

My husband´s English is good, so I have been a little lax in learning Turkish as fast as I should be.  I can usually ramble on a few sentences to him when I am practising, but right now we are in the middle of trying to emigrate him to Canada and it´s not a good time for miscommunication.

You can actually fly into Bodrum, there is an airport there.  And I only said nightlife IF that´s your thing; there is a lot of great beaches and activities there also.

Anyway, as I mentioned, I didn´t really care for Marmaris that much, but your also mentioned Kusadasi ... Kusadasi is also very nice.  Sorry, I can´t comment on Alanya or Side ... I haven´t been to either of those cities.  Good luck with your research!!

Go to Bodrum!!  2 or 3 hours drive from  Marmaris, but MUCH nicer.  It´s beautiful there.  Lots of shopping, great beaches, and a lot of night-life/clubbing especially in Gumbet if that´s your thing.  Many sights to see also, the castle, amphitheatre, etc.

Merhaba, benim Melek.

I understand you have received a letter for G***** from the Canadian Embassy in Ankara.  Is it possible that you could fax me the letter or scan the letter and email it to me for translation?  I am wondering if the police certificate they requested needs to be translated into English?  If so, I have the archived document you mailed to me last month; I could get this translated here in Canada and mail it to the embassy.

Tesekkurler anne!!

I can make some good guesses, but it needs to be accurate.

Thanks in advance!!

In Canada, it is a cute childhood game ... you (the adult) pinch the child´s nose and then show them this sign and say ´I got your nose´ ... the half-hidden thumb is supposed to be the ´nose´ you just pinched off of their face.  {#emotions_dlg.yes}

Oh I´ll tell you what they want.

FIRST THEY WANT TO F**K YOU.

THEN THEY WANT TO LICK YOU.

THEN THEY WANT TO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND SEND YOU ON YOUR WAY *starts crying* LIKE A DAMN LOVE LETTER. Thats what.

Wow ... that´s pretty bitter, and a pretty critical generalization of a whole nation.  I know that all Turks are not like that, and many westerners and other europeans ARE just like that.  There are good and bad everywhere ... {#emotions_dlg.rant}

Kanada Konsolosluğu Ankara´da başvuru almış ve işleme başlamıştır. Ben eminim, ancak, en azından olacak 3 veya 4 ay önce herhangi bir cevap duydum.

This is Google Translate but sometimes their accuracy is not the best.  Can anyone tell me if this is a correct translation (or close in meaning)?

Canadian Consulate in Ankara has received your application and has commenced processing.  I am sure, however, it will be at the very least 3 or 4 months before we hear any answer.

Well, I have to say, my husband has applied for a study visa, a tourist visa AND a transit visa, and he´s been turned down all 3 times.  How lucky I am to be Canadian, hop on a plane and go pretty much wherever I want with very little difficulty!  My only question is: why is a Canadian charged 60 USD for a visa in Turkey, while everyone else is charged around 20USD?  Not that I´m complaining, just curious ...

There is a good-sized list of countries a Turkish national can visit, but you also need to be aware of HOW to get there.  Many of these countries cannot be accessed by direct flight, and require a transit visa (at least) through another european country.  We learned this the hard way when my now-husband and I were going to get married in the Bahamas ... until England refused my husband AND his older parents their visas.  Of course, flights all need to be purchased PRIOR to applying for the transit visa.  Needless to say, we lost a LOT of money.
