Meaning translation: I have a lot of work, I can´t come now.

Just because it´s translated with the verb "to have" or "there is" it doesn´t make it a verb, it´s only "acting" as one. 

Anyway, you´re probably a native, I´ve only been learning for a few months, so you do know Turkish better than me if that´s what you´re trying to prove. I, however, do like grammar and I do read a lot about it. Let me refer you, again, to "Turkish Grammar" by Prof Lewis, and "The Dictionary of the Turkish Verbs" - if you have any problems with what I posted, pick it up with the authors of those books, who, accidently, happen to claim the same.

I actually checked against the Dictionary of the Turkish Verbs, which confirmed what I wrote . Besides, that´s what my Turkish delight says when he means he misses me.

If you want to focus on subtleties, keep in mind that some Turkish verbs indicating a state (feelings, emotions or sensations) are used in the past tense in Turkish but translated by using the present tense in English.

Examples:

Geç kaldým - better translated as "I´m late" and not as "I was late"

Anladým - "I understand"

Sýkýldým - "I´m bored"

Acýktým - "I´m hungry"

Susadým - "I´m thirsty"

Memnun oldum - "I´m pleased"

Yoruldum - "I´m tired"

Özledim - "I miss"

So "I miss you" is actually a better, more accurate translation than "I missed you" (which is the literal translation).

"Var" is not a verb, it is an adjective. It is not the same as English "is" even though it may translate as "there is" or "there are" in some cases. There actually is no equivalent for either "var" or "yok" in the English language, just like there´s no equivalent for "to have" in Turkish - both languages use different language structures to express the same meaning.

"Var olmak" is a verb (verbal phrase?) meaning "to exist"

"Varmak" is a verb that means "to reach, to arrive, to come to, etc" - however "varmak" and "var" in the example in the question are 2 different words.

There are plenty of sentences where verbs are not directly expressed, especially in the so called existential sentences or equational sentences (A is B) -  for example "Ahmed doktor", "Hava güzel", etc.

Ok, I´ll give you that much, I don´t know and never will know for sure what happened. Do I think it´s possible that she was a virgin? No, I don´t. Without modern technology and bathtubs where males are leaving their sperm behind for innocent virgins to get knocked up, I think it´s highly unlikely that Mary conceived without a sexual intercourse. I don´t believe in god as described (or made up) by people in the so called holy books, so I think the entire story is untrue. If there´s higher intelligence or some kind of cosmic force that could be called god, I doubt that it, whatever it is, would be concerned with Mary´s virginity as much as we are in this thread.

But if you want to believe that virgin births (in humans) are feasible, then more power to you. Obviously you have the "extra sense" that I don´t.

Again, it was a comment on Alameda´s posting and I disagreed with it, had a thought about it and posted it, as, again, I have a right to do as much as you do. Alameda responded in another post, and that would have been the end of it had you not "got provoked".

If you´re so easily provoked, no wonder you want to declare wars on people ...
