Thread: Funny, Irritating and Eye-catching Shirt Logos

I like all these t-shirts! Don't know if I'd wear some of them through choice though! Although here was a time I was forced to wear one:

I worked in a gym for the last three years while I was at uni, and all the fitness instructors had to wear skin tight SHAG t-shirts for a week – for Sexual Health Awareness Guidance week. Don’t get me wrong – it was a great cause – but you can imagine where the word SHAG was, and the amount of unwanted attention it got me from the male customers! In fact, one gym member was having a massage and he even asked the massage therapist what "other services" she offered! lol

Iluvhim - just a word of advice. Often, short translations like this you will be able to translate by yourself. By double clicking on the word it will take you to the dictionary and give you the meaning of that word. For example, in this case you can click senden and see what it means! Also, hoslaniyorum - is the present progressive tense of the verb hoşlanmak. If you click on hoşlanıyorum here, it will take you to the verb hoşlanmak in the dictionary. This won't work for every conjugated verb, but it does for many. Obviously keep posting what you need translating, but I thought it might be a useful tip for you to help if you are trying to learn Turkish.

I agree with you Cyrano. But Deli, well done on the verb hoşlanmak, after all, it can mean "to be pleased with", as well as to like, enjoy etc.

Hi Cyrano!

I thought I'd give you a sample sentence.

"But by no kind of calculation can we justify the decision that we made."

To be honest the phrase "But by no kind of calculation" is not as common as saying "But by no calculation". However, neither are used often in colloquial speech.

Can you translate this for me please?

I think it's better I come to Istanbul from 5 until 9 of January. Is there any problem with you? I'll wait for your answer and then I'll book the flight and the hotel. I love you.

bence 5-9 aralık arası istanbula gelmem cok daha iyi olur. senin icin bir problem warmı? senden bir cevap bekliyorum ona gore ucus ve hotel de rezarvasyon yaptıracagım. seni seviyorum

Don't worry SuiGeneris's translation is perfect (as usual!) but change aralık in the first sentence to ocak, otherwise your boyfriend will expect you a lot sooner!!

babami uyutmaya calisiyorum

It means: I am trying to put my father to sleep.

Or it could mean: I am trying to deceive my father.

Take your pick depending on the context, and how well you know your boyfriend

Hope this helps you
