- miştir

we use this ending when we are not sure that something´s happened. its like  " I expect or must have."

Üç saat önce otobüse bindi. Şimdi İstanbul´a varmıştır. ---> He got on the bus 3 hours ago from now. He/She must have arrived Istanbul by now.

Gitmiştir ----> He/She must have gone.

Şimdi arama onu, yatmıştır. ---> Don´t call him/her now. He/She must have gone to bed.

 

This ending also used for offical purposes, like announcements or reports, news.

Londra uçağı iniş yapmıştır. ----> The London plane has landed.

Mağazamızda indirim başlamıştır ----> In our store, the discount has now started.

kafam durdu ---> [literally " my head stopped " ] which means "I am too tired to think."

Kafamı kaşıyacak vaktim yok ----> [ literally " I have no time even to scratch my head"] which means " I am too busy"

kafadan kontak  [slang word] ---> cracked, nutty

kafadan sakat    [ slang word ] ---> same as "kafadan kontak" , cracked, nutty

kafasız  [slang word ] -----> stupid, brainless

Bu masa için kaç lira ödedin ? ----> How much liras you paid for this table ?

Yağmur yağdığı için gelmedik ---> We didnt come because it was raining.

Her yaz kilo vermek için diet yapar ---> He/She goes on diet every summer in order to lose weight.

Bu kitap için ne düşünüyorsun ? ------> What do you think about this book ?

Babadan kalma ---> inherited from one´s father.

Babadan kalma bir evim bir de arabam var ---> I have a house and a car that I inherited from my father.

Oku babam oku [slang] ---> [literally " read father read" ] which means " Read, read, read ! "

Git babam git ,yol bitmiyor ! ---> Go, go, go, the road never come to an end.

Babasının oğlu ----> [ literally " he is son of his father" ] which means " He acts just like his father "

Yerinde olsam ---> [ literally " If I was in your place" ] which means If I was you

Senin yerinde olsam ,oraya gitmezdim ---> If I was you ,I wouldnt go there.

Onun yerinde olsam , o arabayı almazdım --> If I was him/her, I wouldnt buy that car.

Sizin yerinizde olsam, bugün evde dinlenirdim ---> If I was you [plural] I would have a rest at home.

Onların yerinde olsam, o kadar o evi tutmazdım ---> If I was in their place, I wouldnt rent that house.

Bir fincan kahvenin kırk yıl hatırı vardır ---> [proverb] One should remember even small kindnesses.

Bir eli yağda bir eli balda olmak ---> [literally " A person whose one hand in the butter,other hand in the honey ] which means " A person who has very comfortable,wealthy life ]

Senin bir elin yağda bir elin bağda ---> You have a very comfortable life with no worries.

Bir şeye yaramaz ---> Good for nothing, useless

O adam bir şeye yaramaz ---> That man is good for nothing, useless

O bir bardak votkayı bir solukta içti ---> He drunk a glass of votka at one go.

Kiracı ---> renter, tenant

Bir ev kiraladım ---> I rented a house.

Bir daire kiraladım ---> I rented an apartment.

Mobilyalı ------> Furnished

Satılık ev ---> House for sale

Kiralık ev ----> House for rent

A spacious 3 bedroom house ---> Geniş 3 odalı ev

Kirayı arttırmak ---> to increase the rent

Ev sahibi kirayı arttırmak istiyor --> The landlord want to increase the rent
