It seems that while men and boys kill each other in endless wars women and girls end up killed and mistreated simply because of their sex. The victims in the 20th century were as many. Read Half the Sky (2009) by Nicholas D. Kristof & Sheryl Wudunn if you still didn´t.

Of course, si++. It seems so clear (when you say it).

I´m so glad you turned up, dancerdee. I feel a little bit embarassed because of the patient help that I have got here so many times, especially when there is no guarantee that I won´t do the same mistakes again.

I am howling here. Thanks, si++.

A couple of questions:

1. Why did you change avlamak into avlanmak? Doesn´t it mean that the wolves themselves are hunted?

2. Dişi...2-5 yavru doğurur. Why isn´t yavru in the accusative? My guess: because the actual object is the number... How is 2-5 read here?

3. ...kendi sürü/sü/nü çağırırlar. This must be an easy one, but I can´t figure out which ending here is for the possessive construction and which is for the noun state.

The wolf is perhaps the only ancestor of domesticated dogs. If there are a lot of wolves they move and hunt together in large packs. The leader of the pack is usually a female wolf or a wolf couple.

Wolves are nocturnal animals. This means that they hunt at night. They hunt elk, deer and reindeer, but will also eat smaller animals. Sometimes they kill a sheep, eat insects and even fruit! Wolves have strong jaws with sharp teeth. They can smell very well, have excellent eyesight and acute hearing. Wolves weigh up to 50 kg (in rare cases 70 kg). They travel a long way to find food and can run fast.

In April or May the female gives birth to 2-5 young. The pups open their eyes at ten days old. They are as playful as dog puppies. Wolves "talk" to each other by howling. They warn other wolves to stay away, or call their own pack together. Sometimes they howl just for fun. A wolf can be heard from 10 km away! Wolves almost never attack people.

My try:

1. Kurt muhtemelen evcil köpeklerin tek atasıdır.

2. Çok kurt varsa, onlar birlikte büyük sürülerde hareket ederler.

12. Dişi nisan veya mayısta 2-5 yavruyu doğum yapar.

13. Kurt yavruları on gün yaşında gözleri açar.

14. Onlar köpek yavruları kadar oynamayı severler.

15. Kurtlar birbiriyle uluyup konuşuyor.

16. Başka kurtları çıkmaya uyarıyorlar veya onların kendi sürüyüsü çağırıyorlar.

17. Bazen yalnız eğlenmek için uluyorlar.

18. Bir kurt on kilometre uzaklıktan işitirebilir.

19. Kurt hemen hemen hiç insan saldırmar.

(The text is from a primary school English lesson.)

Kurtlar uluyor is correct. You can´t say Kurtlar uluyorlar, can you? But if I continue to talk about wolves referring to them with onlar, is the predicate still singular? What about the verb to be: Kurtlar geceleri gezen hayvan or hayvanlar?

Can anyone remember a topic that explains this question? All I can find is "Do not forget that people are and things is in Turkish".

Otherwise, have a nice day!

It seems I have a problem with the possessive construction. I´ll have to go and check those rules. {#emotions_dlg.bye}

Teşekkürler, si++! I´ll keep on trying.

A couple of things I did not understand:

1. Her yaz birçok sıradan turist ile genç tren yolcular yolcuları kente gelir.

Isn´t this accusative now? But in my opinion yolcular is the subject.

2. ...birçok güzel öğrenci apartmanları var.

Doesn´t birçok take singular just like numerals? And again, why the accusative ending?

Probably I´m just being stupid but I must ask...
