"Kamuflaj, hayvanların bazılarının, kendilerini ortama uydurarak düşmanlarından kurunmasıdır."

...and what is it used for?

Damn. They are passives. No wonder it was easy to produce these pairs. You opened my eyes, MarioninTurkey.

I was actually wondering whether to choose turta or börek. It´s a sweet pie but not actually a cake as eastern people understand the word. I once sent it to my Palestinian neighbour as a gift and later on her children told me " the pie was nice after we threw away the berries that were on top of it".

I´m sorry I´m insisting, but it seems to me that verbs with causative marked forms of transitive verbs rise up especially in mış-participles (used as adjective attributes). I have been doing some googleing:

havuç soymak  -  soyulmuş havuç

patates haşlamak  -  haşlanmış patates

şeker serpmek  - serpilmiş şeker

arabayı tamir etmek  -  tamir edilmiş araba

I´m not sure but it seems quite easy to find such examples. Is it normal to use the causative marked verbs with a straight object, like havuç soyulmak?

I can somehow understand the difference in syntax but the nuances in meaning are hard to perceive, of course. Thanks for giving it a thought.

Notes:

1. My guess: tereyağı and yabanmersini are actually (old) compounds, aren´t they? That´s why there is buffer n in the genitive.

2. kenar altın kahverengi olduğu olana kadar: I thought dik-participle is neutral what comes to time (it can be used referring even to future events, like in Müzeyi gezdikten sonra müze çıkışında buluşacak.), but it seems I was wrong.

3. kabartmak, çırpılmak, düzeltmek: causatives, eh? Sometimes dictionaries are not very clear in these differences (or maybe it´s my English). OK, I was careless about kabarmak (´(for bread) to rise´ and even düzlemek (´to smooth, flatten, level´, but çırpmak (´to beat, whisk or whip´ carries a causative meaning already in my opinion according to the translation.

It´s funny: I tried to find the correct baking terminology using Google images in Turkish (it´s a great help sometimes) and in the end most of it was wrong.

I just came from the forest...

Blueberry Pie

B.

Recipe Ingredients

Dough:                                                                          Filling:

5 dl milk                                                                        1 liter blueberries
2 dl sugar                                                                       1 ½ dl sugar
50 g yeast                                                                      3 tbs potato starch
200 g butter or margarine
approximately 1 kg flour
1 egg
1 tsp salt
1 tbs ground cardamom

Recipe Cooking and Preparation Method

Dissolve the yeast into lukewarm milk in a mixing bowl. Add the sugar, salt, cardamom and egg and stir ingredients together. Add half of the flour and knead into a soft dough. Mix the soft margarine or butter into the dough and add as much of the remaining flour as is needed. The dough is ready when it no longer sticks to the bowl or to your fingers. Cover the mixing bowl with a kitchen towel and prove in a warm place for approximately 30 minutes.
Pour the dough onto a floured baking board, knead and roll out with a rolling pin into a thin sheet (slightly bigger than a baking tray). Place the sheet onto a baking tray covered with a greaseproof paper. Trim the edges. (From the extra dough you can form crosswise strips to decorate the top of the pie). Prove for 30 minutes.
Mix together the blueberries, sugar and potato starch in a mixing bowl and pour the mixture onto the sheet. Raise the edges. Decorate the top of the pie with crosswise stripes. Brush the dough with a beaten egg. Bake the blueberry pie at 175 - 200 degrees Celsius for approximately 30 minutes, until the crust is golden brown.

Yabanmersini böreği

Malzeme listesi:

HAMUR                                                                         DOLGU

5 dl süt                                                                            1 l yabanmersini

2 dl şeker                                                                        1,5 dl şeker

50 g maya                                                                      3 yemek kaşığı patates unu

yaklaşık 1 kg un

1 yumurta

1 çay kaşığı tuz

1 yemek kaşığı kakule

Yapılışı:

Mayayı çanakta ılık suya eritin. Șeker, tuz, kakule ile yumurtayı ilave edip malzemeleri karıştırın. Unun yarısı ilave edip karışımı yumuşak hamura yoğurun. Yumuşak margarineyi veya tereyağıyı hamura karıştırıp unun artakalmış yarısından ihtiyaca kadar ilave edin. Hamur çanaka veya parmaklarınıza aktık tutmadığı an hazırdır.

I´m surprised because the fault was not mine: I took the sentence from a Turkish lesson. Maybe it was a misspelling. But it was good it was there because I had the wrong idea about this grammar point. And besides, one suffix less is always good news.

The need for genitive subject concerns only infinitives, doesn´t it? Is this a strict rule? What about infinitives, do they ever accept nominative subjects? (I have some googleing to do).

Thanks, tunci.

Ali´nin geldiği zaman çarşıya gittik.

Sütlaç ılıdıktan sonra üzerine tarçın serpin.

Why is the subject part of the participle structure sometimes in genitive case and sometimes not?

Greetings from here.
