Because she has specifically singled out Turkey when it is arguably worse in many other countries. We have a high profile case in Britain at the moment where phone tapping could be involved.

Well this is a website about Turkey right And after posting this, posts immediately came up to say it is actually worse in other countries (including my own).

Yüksek Sadakat - Aþk þarabý (or is the title Kafile?)

Ben hem kalp hem bedenim
Nefestir ruhum benim
Aþk þarabý içerim tez gelsede ecelim

Ben hem kalp hem bedenim
Ateþten ruhum benim
Aþk þarabý içelim kendimizden geçelim

I have deleted my post, because I think I was wrong and impolite to say those, though I didnt mean it rude. I have not deleted the posts in which I was quoted, not to delete anything other members have said.

Sorry for the offence, misunderstanding and inconvenience I have caused, it wasn´t my intention to do so at all, and sorry for the ones who have taken it much more personal than I ever wrote it to be.

Apologies

Quoting Trudy

What day do you leave, DK? From Schiphol?

I´m leaving the 18th, but from Düsseldorf. When you don´t live in ´Holland´, () it doesnt matter that much to go either to Düsseldorf or to Schiphol. The way back is to Schiphol though.

If I have time that week, I´m planning to go to Mona though! Up for a drink afterwards?

Seems to be yet another Turkey bashing thread. {#lang_emotions_neutral}

What´s bashing about this? I love Turkey, and I´d very much like to stay informed and be able to talk about anything going on there, because only that way things can change. If we stay mouth-dead and pretend we all just read the ´happy newspaper´, nothing will change because nobody will notice something is wrong. But apart from that, I don´t see the bashing side here really.

Quoting TheAenigma

Further to my earlier post, further proof that the worst offenders for phone tapping are Britain, Italy and the Netherlands!

Should we be kicked out of EU? I hope so

Now that is bad! I never thought of the bad sides for the Netherlands to be in the EU though, I should read a bit more.

If all people and English speakers say ´the world is flat´, will you believe them?

This is the problem(!)

No. And it has nothing to do with it!

If all Turkish people say that my country´s name is Hollanda, will you believe them? Apparantly you do. Because according to Turkish language, my country´s name is Hollanda, its inhabitant is a Hollandalý and its language is Hollandaca (though often Flemenkçe is said)  Many foreign languages speak of Nederland (the Netherlands) in terms of Hollanda, Hollandia, Ollanda. But it is wrong. In Dutch, Holland is only a small part of our country. It includes the area where Trudy lives, but Holland isn´t where I live. We both live in Nederland though!

I think we all have different perspectives on this. But scientific, legal and historic knowledges are important and esteemed .I am afraid I don´t agree with you. And you of course don´t have to agree with me.

"If all people say ´the world is flat´, will you believe them?"

That quote has nothing to do with it, nor does legal knowledge etc have to do with this. Its very nice of you to say that I dont have to agree with you though My language doesnt have the letter ü, so how are we gonna write Türkiye? As for Istanbul, it is wrong in Turkish to write it with a capital ý (I) and not with a capital i (Ý), but my language also doesn´t have the letter ý and our capital i is an I. Each country has its own way of saying names of foreign places and countries, and even just gramatically wise it is impossible to do otherwise. If you want us to say and write Türkiye the way Turks do, then will you write and say Chinese places also the way Chinese people do?

And I may be wrong, but I think the name Türkiye actually comes from the name that the British and French used in their correspondence with the Ottoman Empire. Speaking of historic knowledge to be taken into account when naming a country...

Happy to have just bought my ticket for the Christmas holiday in Turkey. More happy to have finally found a DÝRECT flight to Ýzmir!! No waiting with luggage for a connection flight or an annoying bustrip from Ýstanbul
