I didnt say my translation is more important than others.

No, but you did insult Trudy implying her contribution was worthless because you think she doesn´t speak Turkish. That was what I took issue with. You equated being able to contribute on this site with speaking fluent Turkish.

This lady has travelled round more of Turkey on her own than most of us have in groups ... and has probably visited more of Turkey´s off the beaten track history and beauty than you or I have ... so I think she may well speak a lot more Turkish than you think.

 Zülfi was really close...

Thank you for accepting me. Your friends name is the name of the leading actor in a film that I love a lot, and that film really touched me. It was interesting when I saw it. I saw you in class too. Thanks once more.

if we leave other private reasons. main reason is none of the mods can speak turkish.

I dont think even they can form a turkish sentence.  for example you Trudy, you are a member of this site for many years. what do you know about turkish except aþkým, bebeðim, merhaba, seni seviyorum)  mods are also same. so we need a mod who is native turkish speaker.

Whoa .... slow down. Contributions to this site are in many different ways.

Some of us teach. Some of us translate. Some of us share our learning efforts. Some of us share news and information. Some of us post pictures. Some of us write essays.

All are equally valid. It is rubbish to say that my contribution of translating is more valuable than someone else´s contribution of asking very good questions, for example.

Trudy has made an outstanding contribution to this site. Not only has she taken many many beautiful photos, and written some fantastic travel essays, but now I understand she has volunteered to spend even more time organising the pictures.

Way to go girl! I am glad you are here, and don´t care whether you speak Turkish as well as you speak Dutch, or not.

Maybe we could start udud (reverse dudu).

Instead of rich foreigner sending money for him to get kontör / pay for sick mother´s operation etc, rich Turk sends money for her to go to Bahçeþehir language course ....

meet: buluþmak

meet: not to karþýlaþmak

Just a quick note to help learners, not to correct anyone!

Buluþmak and karþýlamak both mean meet, but they are used in completely different circumstances.

Buluþmak is used as in to meet up with someone: e.g. I will meet you at 5:30, he met his friends at the restaurant before the film etc.

Karþýlamak is to meet someone when they arrive somewhere like to meet someone at the station when they get off the train, or to meet someone at the airport. It is also used for "bumping into someone" - a meeting that isn´t planned - I met my friend in the high street when I was going to see my auntie.
