Agree. The art of translation is understanding each language so well you know which of the multiple meanings to use.

e.g. çevirme: rotation and translation.

Piliç çevirme is not Chicken Translation! It is chicken on a spit.

but chicken translation sounds sooooooooo much better!! lol lol

Chicken translation is the name I now use for translations where the person has just looked the word up in the dictionary and chose the wrong one!

My favourite example you see many places:

KEndin pişir kendin ye:
Sign by the road where they have a barbecue where you chose your own meat and cook it yourself.
MORE OFTEN THAN NOT the English sign says "Cook yourself, eat yourself".

Now... that is an alternative on the comment "they are all cannibals"!

Quoting Lisi Loo:

Thank you both for your replies.

I noticed that Marion added some corrections.

Marion, do I just put what you've corrected instead of the original text as quoted by Ugur, and the sentences should follow accordingly, as I'm not sure how to structure sentences in Turkish (I am sure I will get there!! lol)

Thank you both...

Yes, just replace the words that I put were wrong with the corrections

oh.pardon coupe değil coverd miş.özür

Not COUPE but COUPLE = 2 tane, çift etc

A couple of times = 2 kez

or we sometimes use a couple to mean a few, so I used this meaning in my correction

The sea and you!

There is something like the sea in your eyes
Phosphorescence and the night are mine
With those looks,
It is wonderful to experience the night,
It is wonderful to wait for the morning.

There is something like the sea in your hair
The starfishes bobbing up and down amongst the waves
It is like it has found peace in your hair.
In a wavy sea,
It is wonderful to wait for the breeze
It is wonderful to long for you

There is something like the sea in the looks you give me
Reminding me of the night and sea
More beautiful than the deep blue
More beautiful than the night

The hearts that wait patiently meet in the deep blue
And the sea returns to you
A little calmer
A little more like midnight blue
Maybe like you
Maybe more like the sea....

I just wish it had said a little bit more.
Ben sadece bir parça daha birşey söylemek isterdim.

Keşke biraz daha yazsaydın.

Last night I had a bad dream about you.
Dün gece yatağımda senin hayalini gördüm.
