Environment and Forestry Minister Osman Pepe has refuted claims by the English company Bosphorus Nickel Mining A.Ş. that they have received permission to cut down 220 thousand trees in Çal Dağı area of Manisa.
Osman Pepe, Ingiliz sirketinin yaptigi açiklamaya tepki göstererek, “Orada bulunan tek bir agacin dahi kesilmesine izin vermem†dedi.
Osman Pepe was reacted angrily to the announcement made by the English company, “I will never give permission for even one tree to be cut down there,†he said.

Answering questions from journalists concerning English company Bosphorus Nickel Mining’s announcement relating to the trees on Çal Dağı “We have had total approval from the Ministry and will cut down the treesâ€, Pepe said that the company had not been given permission.
“Agaç kesimine izin verilmesi diye bir sey sözkonusu degil. Orada bulunan tek bir agacin dahi kesilmesine izin vermem, bunu herkes böyle bilsin†dedi.
“There is no such permission for cutting down trees. Let everyone be assured that I will never give permission for even one tree there to be cut down,†he said.
