Quoting dilliduduk

actually there is almost nothing misspelled but no turkish characters are used maybe that´s confusing.

"ürker" comes from "ürkmek"-to get afraid

Türkiye´de hangi manastýrýn, veya hangi azýnlýðýn böyle bir þeye cesaret edebileceðine inanýyorsunuz? Býrakýn baþkasýnýn topraðýný iþgal etmeyi, kendi hakkýný savunurken bile ürker hale getirdik bu insanlarý. El birliðiyle.

And again, you come to the rescue {#lang_emotions_bigsmile}

Obviously I was way off {#lang_emotions_head_bang}, thanks for correcting it, I was curious what that text is actually supposed to be.

And, just as an aside, in my humble opinon, if Turkish characters are not used, that´s misspelling it. It may be easy for the natives to guess what the word is, but, as a learner, trust me, it´s not. Same with lack of punctuation. I can see how people who just want it translated wouldn´t care, as it´s gonna get translated anyway, but I´m here to learn too and would have an easier task at it if people were spelling words correctly. That´s just my 5 cents.

Quoting zivago

It is a comment on an article written on a turkish newspaper:

Türkiyede hangi manastirin, veya hangi azinligin böyle bir seye cesaret edebilecegine inaniyorsunuz? Birakin baskasinin topragini isgal etmeyi, kendi hakkini savunurken bile ürker hale getirdik bu insanlari. El birligiyle.

thanks for the help...just started beginners1 class )

This is a bit difficult, I think a lot of words are misspelled, but let me try ... (wait for corrections, I´m just learning).

In Turkey, which monastery (?), or which azinligin (no idea what ainligin is), do you believe would dare such a thing? The occupation of other´s land, when defending even though ürker (no idea what that´s supposed to be) justice given to its people. El birligiyle (with hand something).

This is a very poor attempt, hopefully a native will make the corrections.

this one says "exercises that should be done in listening-understanding part. Listening texts and the answers to the questions in this part.

so I guess there is, since it says "dinleme metinleri-listening texts"

Thank you Diliduduk, your help, as always, is much appreciated.

I´ve ordered the books too, they speak so fast on those CDs I need the text to confirm I hear what I think I hear lol.

I´m trying to find out if the above books contain transcripts to listening exercises that are in the student book. I don´t need the translation of the entire thing below, I just would like to know if there´s anything that confirms the transcripts are there.

Thanks

    Yes, but "Kendine onlarý gerçekleþtirmek için zaman ayýr" and "Kendine onlarý gerçekleþtirecek zaman ayýr" are the same.

    Aren´t they? Oh my god, I got confused about my own language {#lang_emotions_lol_fast}

    lol If you get confused, there´s no hope for me lol

    Thank you for taking the time to explain, it does make a difference to us, learners. {#lang_emotions_flowers}

    yes you are right.

    so Faruk´s suggestion "Make time for yourself to make them real" is the translation. you cannot use "they will come true" here.

    Would you mind explaining this a little bit further, I think I´m misunderstanding why it would be translated that way. Wouldn´t "make time for yourself to make them real" be "onlarý gerçekleþtirmek için zamaný ayýr kendine"?

    Thanks.

    Quoting sonunda

    Ve onlarý gerçekleþtirecek zamaný ayýr kendine

    ´And while making them come true´

    How did you get this,please?

    Is it not ´and they will come true(materialise),give yourself time.´ ?

    This is what I was thinking, but can be wrong, for all I know your translation could be the right one.

    "gereçekleþtirmek" is to make something come true, materialize, so I thought "ecek" in this case is a participle, not the tense ending. Also onlarý suggests an "object" of that verb. So I think to say "they will come true" you´d need "onlar" as the subject and "gerçekleþmek".

    I hope somebody can correct it if my train of thought was off the track.

    Quoting Etty

    Thankyou for your explanation.

    Sorry to labour the point but what I think I am trying to clarify is, is  the ´ip´ always used with the ´medik´ and therefore always a relative clause when expressing a ´whether or not´ sense?  I don´t think I am explaining my self very well, and English is my mother tongue! {#lang_emotions_confused}

    This is how I understand it, but I´m just a learner, hopefully a native will confirm (they´ll boot us both out of this site for this thread I kid you not lol ).

    I think the whether or not sense is only conveyed if the -ip suffix, attached to a verb stem, is followed by the same verb´s negative stem with the suffix of a verbal noun or personal participle (like - dik).

    There are other uses for -ip, but in the sense that you mentioned, I think the above would apply.

    I hope that helps.

    No, as I mentioned, you cannot build such a sentence in Turkish.

    Hmmm, maybe I´m not understanding it as I thought I did {#lang_emotions_shy}

    Is it because it´s a noun clause? How about this "Yarýn gelip gelmeyeceðini bilmiyorum, ama bir pasta yapmayacaðim"? Can you say that if you make this an object of a verb?

    Can you say: Yarýn sen gelsen gelmesen de, bir pasta yapmayacaðim", to say "Wheather or not you come tomorrow, I´m not cooking the cake?".

    Sorry to be a pain in the a* with the questions, I just want to make sure I understand it.

    Thanks, {#lang_emotions_flowers}
