As many languages as we speak,as many differences that we can have in between us,but there is one thing unchangable,no matter coloures, tounges, places,it just can beat them all !
That is ,heart beat..... Love .

How do poets say İ love you in poems in their own mother tongue languages ?

Thanks to bliss, reading old post of her, made me think about it,
So first contribution will be form bliss,

İn Russian,

*****

"I love you . . ."

I love you as the sea loves the sunrise,
As Narcissus loves the glimmer and the coldness of dreamy waters.
I love you as the stars love the crescent moon,
As the poem loves its creator inspired by fancy.
I love you like the flame that attracts the moth to its Death, from exhaustive love and haunted by melancholy.
I love you as the rushes love the eager wind.
I love you with all my will, and all the strings of my soul.
I love you as I love enchanting dreams,
More than the sun itself, more than the happiness itself, more than life or the joy of spring.

Mirra Lokhvitskaya

Thank you for sharing this with us bliss.

Anyone else ?with translation pls.

Surrounded by darkness,
Cold and alone,
An eerie silence,
Music begins,
Softly in the distance,
Wandering blindly,
Searching,
Light upon the horizon,
Strange feelings stirring,
Suddenly overwhelm the mind,
Emotions so great,
More than anything before,
A need to protect,
The precious feeling of love.

Like a flower needs light and water,
Like people need air, food and drink
Like a car needs diesel or petrol
I need you to love me i think

my attempts at expressing the wonderful feeling of love although words aren't really enough
i was bored this morning

I love you

I love you like the oceans
Vast and without mercy
My feelings surmount
Like a storm upon the sea
Waves crashing upon fishermans ships,
Destroying those in their way
Unstoppable they multiply,
As my love for you grows every day
Until one day the waters calm
And stillness returns

Nice and gloomy god i am too bored

Seviyorum Seni - Nazım Hikmet

Seviyorum seni
ekmeği tuza banıp yer gibi
Geceleyin ateşler içinde uyanarak
ağzımı dayayıp musluğa su içer gibi
Ağır posta paketini
neyin nesi belirsiz
telaşlı, sevinçli, kuşkulu açar gibi
Seviyorum seni
denizi ilk defa uçakla geçer gibi
İstanbul'da yumuşacık kararırken ortalık
içimde kımıldayan birşeyler gibi
Seviyorum seni
Yaşıyoruz çok şÃ¼kür der gibi.

I love you
like dipping bread into salt and eating
Like waking up at night with high fever
and drinking water, with the tap in my mouth
Like unwrapping the heavy box from the postman
with no clue what it is
fluttering, happy, doubtful
I love you
like flying over the sea in a plane for the first time
Like something moves inside me
when it gets dark softly in Istanbul
I love you
Like thanking God that we live.

(It is from the poems in Turkish Poems - but thought you might like to see it. I will dedicate it to my love )

I Love You
© By Kandyce N. Summers

I Love You
With my every breath,
With all I have left,
From the deepest depths,
Of my heart, I love you.

With all of my strength,
With ten miles' length,
Every thought I think,
I think that I love you.

For the length of forever,
As long as we're together,
Through good and bad weather,
For always, I love you.

Until the very end of days,
Until God takes my breath away,
Until death separates our ways,
Until then, I love you.

When no one is there,
When you think no one cares,
When love seems too rare,
Remember, I love you.

When everything's gone,
When all has withdrawn,
When hopelessness dawns,
Don't forget, I love you.

When you fall down,
When your dreams come unwound,
When hope can't be found,
Be happy, I love you.

When you make mistakes,
When you're filled with hate,
When you're old and gray,
Even then, I'll love you.

Every year and you are my love,
By Nizar Keppani

Every year and you are my lover,
Every year and i am your lover.

Ohh My lady,if it was in my hand,
İ would've made a year just for you

Ohh,ohhh, you sew its days as you want
And lay your back on its weeks as you want

You sunbathe, dance, write on its month's sands as you want.

Every year, and you are my lover

İ'm telling it to you on my own way,
Refusing all the classic expressions,
Which men say it over and over to women.

This year,we won't buy a tree,
You will be my tree

And i will hang my wishes,my prayers, and containers of my tears on you.
Every year...every year..

Ps:We here when we exchange greetings of new year or bayram or any good occasions
We say a wish or some kind of doa 'prayer'saying
Wish you every year you be good.

So here he is not wishing anything except, every year she be his love.

Wish you like it .

İ dedicate it to my man ,with modification ofcourse

lol@libralady

Dipping bread into salt and eating,is an indication

İt says that they are very poor and they have nothing to eat,so how would his happiness be when he get a bread and find anything to eat with even salt ?

he is not rejecting other things and picking salt,he has only salt..lol

Sometime when want to say i would live with you in goods and bads
We,and they use this expression too
Saying ' i want to be with you even if we eat bread and salt'

And ofcourse will have high blood pressure later, lol
You think it would be only from the salt ? lol

Thx aenigma, glad that you liked it

But infact this poet is Syrian, but he lived in Egypt for a while, therefore his style is easy for us too.
The difference between Arabic and Egyptian Arabic,is some how like the difference between Britsh English and American English,
Our Egyptian Arabic is the American one.

How about Past Tense?

ALEXANDR PUSHKIN

I loved you

I loved you and this love by chance,
Inside my soul has never fully vanished;
No longer shall it ever make you tense;
I wouldn't want to sadden you with anguish.

I loved you speechlessly and wildly,
By modesty and jealousy was stressed;
I loved you so sincerely, so mildly,
As, God permit, you may be loved by someone else.

В душе моей угасла не совсем;
Но пусть она Bас больше не тревожит;

То робостью, то ревностью томим;

A poem ın spanish , wrıtten by the BEST chilean poet ever ! (and one of the best poets ın the world too, I do not say so because I am chilean though!) Pablo Neruda.

____

English Translation

(I like it when you're quiet...)

I like it when you're quiet because it's like you're absent,
and you hear me from far away, and my voice doesn't touch you.
It appears that your eyes have flown away from you
and it appears that a kiss has closed your mouth.
Like all the things are full of my soul
You emerge from the things filled with my soul.
Butterfly of dreams, you appear to my soul,
and to yourself you look like the word melancholy.

I like it when you're quiet and you're distant.
And you're keeping yourself, butterfly in lullaby.
And you hear me from far away, and my voice doesn't reach you:
Let me calm and quiet myself with your silence.

Permit me also to speak with your silence
Bright like a lamp, simple like a ring.
You are like the night, quiet and full of stars.
Your silence is from stars, so distant and natural.

I like it when you're quiet because it's like you're absent.
Distant and painful, as if you were dead.
One word then, one smile is enough.
And I am happy, happy that isn't certain...

- Pablo Neruda

Dear Canli

I find your idea great and I couldn’t resist joining, although it is against my principle to not posting in topics opened in a wrong category. May I remind you that the name of this category is Turkish Poetry and Literature (just look at the top of the page), and that it is supposed for discussions about Turkish poetry and literature – which doesn’t include "I love you" poems from all over the world

Anyway, as I said, your idea is wonderful, and this is my contribution – a poem of great Serbian poet Jovan Dučić, on Serbian, and its English translation.

I hope you will like it

и сумњом у тугу и лепоту јада;

да сва на твој осврт падну очарана;

TWILIGHT

I love you with a melancholy ardor
And with doubt in the beauty and gloom of sorrow:
The present happiness is destroying
The infinite other happiness I crave.

For me you erase sunshine, though you did give
A hundred eyes to my heart, and opened
New roads to my soul, but you had them all merge
In you, like sounds that fade into a valley!

A hundred desires resembling white flocks
Headed south, only to land bewitched on your isle;
A hundred religions to trail one day behind you
Like a hundred white-clad children in a procession.

You raised a hundred hatreds to stand guard
Like a hundred black sails at the entrance to your port;
Thus, to my soul, you extended your hand
With the huge poisoned blossom of your being.

With all the passion of the first and last woman
You rule my soul, entire, forever - like
Fate, you too, reign omnipotent, immobile.
You stand between me and all that is around -

While from dried up rocks spring new waters,
And blue flowers blossom from an old stump,
And sparkle as on the day of their birth
All galaxies from a boundless sky!

My love, like the shadows in a thicket,
I filled with hatred, remorse and fear -
But my thirst for treason changed in a flash
Into new oaths and the delights of confession.

Thus falls bitterly, a certain faded twilight
Befogging my road; painfuly and forever,
While deep in me, love and envious malice
Sing together like two angeles in a choir.

____

And to get back to the topic – I’m adding Turkish translation of this beautiful Neruda’s poem:

Seviyorum Suskunluğunu

Seviyorum suskunluğunu, sanki sen
yokmuşÃ§asına burada
duyarsın beni uzaktan, dokunmaz sana sesim.
Uçup gitmiş gibi gözlerin
ve ağzın bir öpüşle mühürlenmiş.

Seviyorum suskunluğunu, çok uzakta
görünüyorsun
Sanki yas tutuyorsun, kumrular gibi cilveleşen
kelebek benzeri.

Pablo Neruda

My dear girls,
You all are incredible. Thank you all.
My dearest Slavica, thank you for the poem, I am glad that I can read that beautiful poem in Serbian too.
You can add my name on the list of Neruda's fans.
Those are my favourite poems too.
I hope the moderators can excuse us because we post Turkish love poems too
My dear Sui, thank you for the beautiful translation and I think I have rights to post one more for you, if you don't mind of course.

Dear slavica,
When i came up with the idea of this thread,i got a bit confused where to post it,
Posting thread in the wrong Farum was an issue for this last week, and it is too against my principle.
But i thought, the idea of posting poem from all over the world, and have them translated into Turkish, beside posting Turkish poem too,and compare between all of them, and the Turkish poem, make the place of this thread is right where it is.
Even if we didn't discuss the differences, but i'm sure you do find yourself compare between them in the style and everything when you reading them after one another.

Thank you for your contribution,it is such a lovely poem, wish you can share more with us .
İ Love it

And thx for the Turkish translation as well,
İ've tried to translate other poem, but i'm afraid i'm still not good enough and afraid to steal the poem beauty with my lack of language proficiently.

Ps: if you feel the thread out of its right place, feel free to move it
İts ok by me,i don't mind, sort it where you think is right.

BEN SENI SEVDIM MI?

Ben seni sevdim mi? Sevdim, kime ne
Tuttum, ta içime oturttum seni
Aldım, okşadım saçlarını, öptüm
İçtim yudum yudum güzelliğini
Ben seni sevdim mi? Sevdim elbette
Bendeydi özlemlerin en korkuncu
Çıldırırdım sen ne kadar uzaksan,
Aşk değil, hiç doymayan bir şeydi bu
Ben seni sevdim mi? Sevdim doğrusu
Sevdikçe tamamlandım, bütünlendim
Biri vardı ağlayan; gecelerce
Biri vardı sana tutkun; o bendim
Ben seni sevdim mi? Sevdim, en büyük
En solmayan güller açtı içimde
Ömrümü değerli kılan bir şeydin
Sen benim bozbulanık gençliğimde
Ben seni sevdim mi? Sevdim, öyle ya
Bir çizgiye vardım seninle beraber
Ve bir gün orada yitirdim seni

BEN SENI SEVDIM MI?
Did I Love You?

Ben seni sevdim mi? Sevdim, kime ne
Did I love you? I did, who cares
Tuttum, ta içime oturttum seni
i hold you, placed to the deepest inside of me
Aldım, okşadım saçlarını, öptüm
i took, caressed your hair, kissed..
İçtim yudum yudum güzelliğini
drank sip by sip your beauty
Ben seni sevdim mi? Sevdim elbette
Did I love you? I did for sure
Bendeydi özlemlerin en korkuncu
it was with me, the most terrible one of yearnings
Çıldırırdım sen ne kadar uzaksan,
got mad, how far you are...
Aşk değil, hiç doymayan bir şeydi bu
not love, this was something never gets enough
Ben seni sevdim mi? Sevdim doğrusu
Did i love you? I did actually
Sevdikçe tamamlandım, bütünlendim
while loving, i got completed, i got whole
Biri vardı ağlayan; gecelerce
there was someone who cries; for nights
Biri vardı sana tutkun; o bendim
tehre was someone who was passiote with you; that was me
Ben seni sevdim mi? Sevdim, en büyük
Did i love you? I did, the greatest
En solmayan güller açtı içimde
the most unfaded roses opened inside of me
Ömrümü değerli kılan bir şeydin

Sen benim bozbulanık gençliğimde
you were... in my blurry youth

"How do poets say İ love you in poems in their own mother tongue languages ?"

at first i understood the question as: HOW DO POETS SAY i love you IN THEIR LANGUAGE, stating that all poets have one language. like music. maybe poets have one language. their heart beat.

a truly profound question.

i would say:

to say, i love you, i have no words enough.
to the beloved, it is best to make them tell u what you sare saying: a poet himself is limited to words.

i would say:

Do you know how the blue sea elevates…
And when the sun dies and reincarnates
I dream of you and I’m glancing
at your eyes, my heart beats dancing

How do you say I LOVE YOU
it feels like a foreign language.

a sailor would say:
My sails warm you as my heart craves
and protect you from the waves

I love you
i breath you
i dream you
how much?
i love you so much that i forget you

i'm tired.

This is probably the best poem about love, ever written in Greek language. The poet was awarded with the Nobel prize.

I have posted it before, but I hope you won't mind reading it again. I wont put it all here, cause there are things that non Greeks would find hard to understand. Here are some parts of it:

THE MONOGRAM (1971)

Odysseas Elytis

I'll mourn forever -do you hear me?- for you,
alone, in Paradise

…
II.
I mourn the sun and I mourn the years that come
Without us and I sing the others that have passed
…..

Always you the little star and always I the dark boat
Always you the harbor and always I the beacon on the right
The wet dockwall and the gleam on the oars
High in the house with the vine arbors
The bound-up rosebushes, the water that feels cold
Always you the stone statue and always I the lengthening shadow
The half-closed window shutter you, I the wind that opens it
Because I love you and I love you
Always you the coin and I the adoration that cashes it.

So much for the night, so much for the roar in wind
So much for the droplet in the air, so much for the quietude
Around the despotic sea
Arch of the sky with the stars
So much for your least breath

That I have nothing more
Amid the four walls, the ceiling, the floor
To cry out of you and so my own voice strikes me
To smell of you and so men turn wild
Because humans can’t endure the untried
The brought from elsewhere and it’s early, do you hear me
It’s too early yet in this world my love
To speak of you and me.

IV

It's still early in this world, do you hear me
The monsters have not been tamed, do you hear me

My lost blood and the sharp, do you hear me
Knife
Like a ram racing in the heavens
Breaking the branches of the stars, do you hear me
It's me, do you hear me
I love you, do you hear me
Holding you and taking you and dressing you
In Ophelia's white wedding dress, do you hear me
Where are you leaving me, where are you going and who, do you hear me
Is holding your hand over the floods
…

In the water one by one, do you hear me
I count my bitter pebbles, do you hear me
…

I'm not going anywhere, do you hear me
Either nobody or both of us together, do you hear me
This flower of the storm and, do you hear me
Of love
We cut it once and for all
And it cannot blossom otherwise, do you hear me
In another earth, in another star, do you hear me
The ground, the air that we touched,
Is no longer the same, do you hear me

And no gardener was happy in other times

From so much winter and north winds, do you hear me
Throw the flower, just us, do you hear me
In the middle of the ocean
By the power of love alone, do you hear me
We created a whole island, do you hear me
With caves and headlands and blossoming cliffs
Listen, listen
Who's talking to the water and who's crying -are you listening?
Who's searching for others, who's yelling - are you listening?
I'm the one who's yelling, I'm the one who's crying, do you hear me
I love you, I love you, do you hear me?
…

Ποιος μιλεί στα νερά και ποιος κλαίει-ακούς;
ακούς;
Σ’ αγαπώ, σ’ αγαπώ, μ’ ακούς;
...

İf i may,i want to dedicate this one to my love in his birthday, and share it with you all

Called,İn your eyes is my address by Faruk Cewede

İn your eyes is my address.

And she said,
you will forget me,
And forget that someday,i gave you my heart beats .

And fall in love with another wave,
and abandon the warmth of my shores.

And sit as we used to sit,to hear some of my music,
and you won't care my sorrow

And my name fall down like hope, and my address get lost.

İ wonder, will you say my love that you were in love with me ?!

İ said,

your love is my faith,my forgiveness, and my disobedient.
İ came to you,and hopes were remains in my chest
Spring,has died its bird,in a lefted garden.
Winds of sorrow squeezing me,
and make fun in my chest.

İ love you,a garden calmed all my sorrows,
İ love you,a soft wind tell to the silent people my music,
İ love you, joyment flow, and lighten the fire of my volcano,
İ love you,a hope,like a day light meeting me.

Love has murder lovers,
And your love,makes me alive.

İf i to choose a country,
İ would've said,your love is my countries.

And if i forget you my love,
my heart will forget me!

İf i got lost in my way,
İn your eyes is my address !

Happy Birthday My Love

Ofcourse Canli, Sezen Aksu says in one of her songs... 'things without pain have something missing...' and love ofcourse brings pain...
but the feeling of love warms and makes cure for everything... sometime we get hopeless but in a second... with a smile... with a thought and also with one words... everything changes
why do you think i am translating so much poems hehehe
i am proud of loving her for feeling her... with everything... pain... joy... tears... laughing...

- the poem you translated is very nice dont ask... if you want to say those words just do it

and here the other poem wanted to be translated by my dear friend Bliss
it is a bit strange... its the description of world from the eyes of a lover i guess

Seni Seviyorum

Hakan Savli

Seni seviyorum
i love you
kılıksız, dilenci bir bahar şarkilar söylerken kapida
while an undressed, beggar sings spring songs infront of door

seni
I
seviyorum
love you...

kumrulara bulandı sabah
the morning got cloudy with doves
taç yapraklarından yorganının altında
from crown leaves under your blanket

ineceği istasyonu şaşırdı kalbim
my heart lost the station it will get off
bir sessiz film kahramanı kadar tuhaf
strange as a movie star

menekşe yüklü batık bir gemi
a sunk ship loaded with violet
buğulu bir senfoni eriyen karadanadam
a blurry symphony and a melting snowman

seni seviyorum
i love you
günlerdir ağaç kovuklarında arıyorum ellerini
for days, in hollow of trees, i am searching for your hands
yok ki
but they are not there...
martılara serpiyorum bulduğum pırlantaları
waving the brilliants i have found to seagulls
gözleri yok ki...
but they dont have eyes...

acı bir tirad
a bitter speech
benekli hayat
spotted life

ışığı süzsem
if i filter the light
tortusu yok ki.
but it doesnt have sediments

to my beloved,
as sunlight makes you see the colours, and beautiful things, dark or the bright... you do just the same in my life time...with you or nothing...

May I give a try? I’m not from France, but I'm a big fan of French poetry. This is magnificant poem of a great French poet, Jacques Prevert. Hope you’ll like it

Cet Amour

Cet amour
Si violent
Si fragile
Si tendre
Si désespéré
Cet amour
Surgis soudain
Tends-nous la main
Et sauve-nous.

JACQUES PREVERT

This Love

This love
So violent
So fragile
So tender
So hopeless
This love
Beautiful as the day
And bad as the weather
When the weather is bad
This love so true
This love so beautiful
So happy
So joyous
And so pathetic
Trembling with fear like a child in the dark
And so sure of itself
Like a tranquil man in the middle of the night
This love that made others afraid
That made them speak
That made them go pale
This love intently watched
Because we intently watch it
Run down hurt trampled finished denied forgotten
Because we ran it down hurt it trampled
it finished it denied it forgot it
This whole entire love
Still so lively
And so sunny
It's yours
It's mine
That which has been
This always new thing
And which hasn't changed
As true as a plant
As trembling as a bird
As warm as live as summer
We can both of us
Come and go
We can forget
And then go back to sleep
Wake up suffer grow old
Go back to sleep again
Awake smile and laugh
And feel younger
Our love stays there
Stubborn as an ass
Lively as desire
Cruel as memory
Foolish as regrets
Tender as remembrance
Cold as marble
Beautiful as day
Fragile as a child
It watches us, smiling
And it speaks to us without saying a word
And me I listen to it, trembling
And I cry out
I cry out for you
I cry out for me
I beg you
For you for me for all who love each other
And who loved each other
Yes I cry out to it
For you for me and for all the others
That I don't know
Stay there
There where you are
There where you were in the past
Stay there
Don't move
Don't go away
We who loved each other
We've forgotten you
Don't forget us
We had only you on the earth
Don't let us become cold
Always so much farther away
And anywhere
Give us a sign of life
Much later on a dark night
In the forest of memory
Appear suddenly
Hold your hand out to us
And save us.

Bu Sevda

Bu sevda
Birdenbire saran içimizi
Bu narin
bu sımsıcak
Bu umutsuz
Sevda
Gün gibi güzel
Ve kabaran deniz gibi
Çalkantılı
Bu sevda
O kadar gerçek
O kadar güzel
O kadar mutlu
O kadar sevinçli
Ve karanlıkta korkudan titreyen bir çocuk gibi
Gülünç
Ve gecenin ortasında sakin bir adam gibi
Kendinden emin
Başkalarının yüreğine korku salan
Benizlerini solduran
Dillerini çözen bu sevda
Gözetlediğimiz için gözetlenen
Yaraladığımız
Ayaklar altına aldığımız
İnkar ettiğimiz unuttuğumuz için
Kovalanmış yaralanmış ayaklar altına alınmış
İnkar edilmiş unutulmuş
Bu kocaman sevda
Gene dipdiri
Gene güneşli
Senin sevdandır bu
Benim sevdamdır
Hep var olan
Durmadan yenilenen
Derin uykulara dalabiliriz
Acı çekebiliriz uyanınca
İhtiyarlayabiliriz
Sonra tekrar dalabiliriz uykuya
Ölümü düşleyebiliriz
Oysa
Başucumuzda
Gülerek bakıyor bize
Durmadan tazelenen bu sevda
Ayak diriyor yaşamakta
Arzu kadar diri
Bellek kadar zalim
Pişmanlık kadar budala
Hatırlamak kadar tatlı
Mermer gibi soğuk
Gün gibi güzel
Bir çocuk gibi narin
Bize bakıyor gülümseyerek
Ve hiçbir şey söylemeksizin
Konuşuyor bizimle
Ve ben ürpererek dinliyorum onu
Bağırıyorum
Senin için
Kendim için
Bağırıyorum bizim için
Gitme kal
Dur orda
Ayrılma yerinden
Kal orda
Kımıldama
Gitme
Biz ki sevmiştik birbirimizi
Unuttuk seni
Bari sen unutma bizi
Bir sen varsın yeryüzünde bizim için
Terk etme bizi
Buz bağlamasın yüreklerimiz
Ne kadar uzakta
Ve nerde olursan ol
Duyur bize kendini
Bir çalı dibinde
Hatıralar ormanında
Birdenbire çıkıver karşımıza
Uzat elini bize
Ve kurtar bizi.

Oh god, you all put such excruciatingly beautiful poems, I especially loved the one posted by Canli.
Love and pain.... on that topic, I'd like to post a poem I really like by a Polish Nobel Prize winning poet.
Its turkish translation you can find here:
http://www.turkishclass.com/poem_80

Thank you note

I owe a lot to those I don't love.
Relief, with which I approve
that they are closer to someone else.

Joy that it's not me who's the wolf
among their sheeps.

I have peace with them
and I am free with them,
and this is what love can
neither give nor take.

I don't wait for them
from window to door.
Patient
almost like a solar clock,
I understand
what love doesn't,
I forgive,
what love would never forgive.

Between a meeting and a letter
there is not an eternity,
but simply a few days or weeks.

My journeys with them are always successful,
concerts heard,
cathedrals visited,
landscapes clear.

And when we're separated
by seven mountains and rivers,
they are mountains and rivers
well known from the maps.

It's only thanks to them,
that I live in three dimensions,
in space unlyrical and unrhetorical,
with real since stable horizon.

They themselves don't know
how much they carry in their empty hands.

'I don't owe them anything' -
love would say
about this open topic.

in Polish:

Podziękowanie

Wiele zawdzięczam
tym, których nie kocham.

Ulgę, z jaką się godzę,
że bliżsi są komuś innemu.

Radość, że nie ja jestem
wilkiem ich owieczek.

Pokój mi z nimi
i wolność mi z nimi,
a tego miłość ani dać nie może,
ani brać nie potrafi.

Nie czekam na nich
od okna do drzwi.
Cierpliwa
prawie jak słoneczny zegar,
rozumiem
czego miłość nie rozumie,
wybaczam,
czego miłość nie wybaczyłaby nigdy.

Od spotkania do listu
nie wieczność upływa,
ale po prostu kilka dni albo tygodni.

Podróże z nimi zawsze są udane,
koncerty wysłuchane,
katedry zwiedzone,
krajobrazy wyraźne.

A kiedy nas rozdziela
siedem gór i rzek,
są to góry i rzeki
dobrze znane z mapy.

Ich jest zasługę,
jeżeli żyję w trzech wymiarach,
w przestrzeni nielirycznej i nieretorycznej,
z prawdziwym, bo ruchomym horyzontem.

Sami nie wiedzą,
ile niosą w rękach pustych.

'Nic im nie jestem winna' -
powiedziałaby miłość
na ten otwarty temat.

Wisława Szymborska

Teşekkür Notu

Sevmediğim insanlara çok şey borçluyum.
İyi ki başka birilerine
benden daha yakınlar.

İyi ki onların kuzuları arasındaki
kurt ben değilim.

Onlarla iyi geçinirim
ve onlara karşı hürüm,
oysa aşk bunu ne sağlayabilir
ne de yok edebilir.

Onlar için beklemem
kapılarda, pencerelerde.
Sabırlıyımdır,
neredeyse bir güneş saati gibi.
Anlarım,
aşkın anlayamadığını.
Affederim,
aşkın asla affetmeyeceklerini.

Bir toplantıyla mektup arasında geçen
sonsuzluk değildir,
sadece birkaç gün ya da bir haftadır.

Onlarla yolculuklarım hep başarılı olur,
konserlere gidilir,
katedraller gezilir,
farklı yerler görülür.

Ve ayrıldığımızda
yedi dağ ve ırmakla,
aramızdaki sadece dağ ve ırmaklardır
haritalardan tanıdığımız.

Onlara sadece teşekkür edebilirim,
üç boyutta yaşadığım için,
şairane ve güzel sözlerle dolu olmayan,
gerçek ve kararlı ufuklarla.

Onlar kendi değerlerini bilmiyorlar,
Boş ellerinde ne kadar çok şey taşıdıklarını.

Bu ilginç konuda
aşk şÃ¶yle derdi:
'Onlara hiçbir şey borçlu değilim'.

When it comes to love and pain, although I do appreciate Szymborska, I prefer a different Polish poet - Jan Brzechwa. I know you already have a poem in Polish Canli but I think this one is definitely worth reading:

Jan Brzechwa
Wyznanie
Piersiom twoim hosanna! I pogarda światom,
Co bogów swoich wielbią w obojętnym niebie,
Bo ja, choć lichszy jestem niż najlichszy atom,
Żyć nie mogę bez ciebie ni umrzeć bez ciebie!

Na wieczność odsączyłaś krew od mego serca,
Co wszystko ci za wszystkich pragnęło przebaczyć;

Piersiom twoim hosanna! I zbawienie ciału.
I litość wiekuista dla serc miłujących!

Jan Brzechwa
Confession

Praise to your breast! Scourn to the worlds
Which worship their gods in indifferent heaven
As I, though smaller I am than the smallest atom,
Neither live nor die can I without you!

For eternity you’ve driven blood from my heart
Which on everyone’s behalf desired to bid you forgiveness
You have not killed it, for miracles don’t kill
But the fate that let me see you one more time

I know that with tears you’ll mark the memories
Of the storm that connects two abysses with a lighting
But I shall ever find no comfort in your tears
As despair knows no end, it will never end.

I’m in such pain that I’m slowly dying
And there is no more prayer on my trembling lips
Praise to your breast! Salvation for your flesh.
And eternal pity for the loving hearts!

Liefde is het niet meer weten

Liefde is heel moeilijk te vergeten

Not a love poem for a person, but one for my country - one of the most beautiful text I have ever heard.

Een volk dat voor tirannen zwicht
zal meer dan lijf en goed verliezen
Dan dooft het licht

H.M. van Randwijk (1909-1966)

A nation giving in to tirans
will lose more than just material things
the lights are fading to darkness

Comparison (one eighth of unfair)

I love you as much as I love computers
I need you as much as I need computers
I think of you as much as I think of computers
I see you as many times as I see computers
They cannot feel like you
You cannot process like them
I tend to choose them
instead of you.

Ok,here i will start again,
A Turkish poem,i've read it here, and touched my heart,
Called ,
Canım Seninle Olmak İstiyor ,for Zuhal Olcay
I Want to Be with You.

Canım Seninle Olmak İstiyor

Nasıl oldu anlayamadım
Tanıştık
Birdenbire
Nedenini sorma boşyere
Seni kucaklamak geldi içimden
Kendimi tutamadım işte geldim yanına

Anladım sendin aradığım hayatım boyunca
Kim koşup açmaz hemen aşk kapıyı çalınca
Yalnız yaşamak zor beklemek ondan da zor
Çektiklerim artık yeter gel benimle ol
Mantık irade kuvvet
Sevince pek işlemiyor
Canım seninle olmak istiyor

İnanmazdım sevgiye
Gülerdim ben herkese
Derdim; insan kısmetini kendi bulur isterse
Oysa sözler ne kadar boş insan sevince
Kalbim sanki deli gibi seni görünce

Mantık irade kuvvet
Sevince pek işlemiyor
Canım seninle olmak istiyor

I Want to Be with You

I couldn't comprehend how, but
We met
Out of nowhere.
Don't ask me why, there is no point
I just wanted to hug you.
I couldn't help myself, and I came to you.

I see now, it was you I have been looking for all my life
Is there anyone who won't open the door when it's love knocking...
It is hard to live alone, but it is even harder to wait
I suffered enough, come and stay with me.
Reason, determination, strength...
They just don't work when you are in love
I want to be with you.

I used to not believe in love
I used to laugh at other people
I used to say, one will create his own destiny
But words are vain when you are in love
My heart goes crazy whenever I see you

Reason, determination, strength...
They just don't work when you are in love
I want to be with you.

Thanks admin for sharing it with us and translating it .

You that I loved
Prodromos Markoglou

You that i loved
Like the prisoner dreams of the oceans and the meadows
And the words,
Rolled from my body
Sometimes silent tears,
Ocean’s wild waves,
Trying to find a way to describe to you
The distance that seperates the idea from the other’s flesh,
Blooddrop the radial love,
İ lost you on the turn
When everything was about to take a different aspect
Scared already from the metamorphosis
My words were foreshadowing
And a light was already shimmering
That was approaching deeply in the eyes.

It was the road to the sea
Between the undershrubs
Opened the crevice naked underneath our feet,
The lilacs were bowing on the shadowy place
With a dark light they were shadowing your face
The sea was lying in front of my feet
And behind me a wall of glass
Where i mangled my fleshes
Seeking you
Denying to admit
That so much blood will go in vain...
(translation in english: Sophie)

seni kaybettim
herseyin farklı bir duruma donustugu zaman Başkalaşmaktan zaten korkmuş haldeyim
****kelimelerim önceden gösteriyordu
ve bir ışık zaten titriyordu
gözlerin içine derinlemesine erişiyordu

Bir yoldu denize doğru
Fundalıkların arasından
çatlak açtı çıplak ayaklarımızın altına
Leylaklar gölgeliklere eğiliyordu
karanlık bir ışıkla yüzünü gölgeliyorlardı
Deniz ayaklarımın önüne uzanıyordu
Ve arkamda bir cam duvar
vucudumu sıkıştıran
seni ararken
reddedip
damardan cok kan akacagını...

I thought this poem would be fitting since it seems that quite a few of us on this site are far away from the people we love

Until We Meet
by Syreeta Elie
Until we meet
My nights will be a little colder
My days a little shorter
My heart will beat a little less rapid
Until we meet
I know that my arms will be empty
My mind hurting from the constant thought of you
Minutes will seem to be hours
Hours will seem to be months
While months will seem like eternity
Until we meet
The stars in the sky will not affect me
with its gleaming sparkles of life

Until I am gazing at them in your arms
And the food that I eat will not be as fulfilling and nourishing
Until it is you that I share the my food with
And Until we meet
I will not feel whole
My world will seem incomplete
Until that wonderful day
When our eyes make first contact
And our bodies and souls collide in blissful whirlwind
The words will roll off my tongue like a sweet love song
"Hello, my love, I couldn't wait to meet you."

SLOVO O LJUBAVI

s kojima idemo kraj ponora nezagrljeni i nemi,

među kojima nema spojnog suda krvi i krvi vrele,

u sećanje nam banu i kad zavolimo druge –
i osetimo se nesrećni i krivi.

Desanka Maksimović

THE ORATION ON LOVE

If you love each other with love
which flourishes in loneliness, fed with distance,
which has been made of dream more than of will,
even after parting, if ever led to instance
to encounter, you will tremble with thrill.

You who love each other with the hermits' grace,
in fright of the sinful desire,
you who break your wings as a bird against its cage,
you will remember each other's face.
Even after parting
your subdued longings are not to expire.

If you cannot sleep because od her
and at midnight, awake, through your garden
you stroll with no peace,
if you are being harassed by crazy yearning ardent,
from the remembrance of her you'll never have release.

Those who we play with
around the bonfire,
still dreading to touch the flame,
those who we walk with along the abyss
nonembraced and silent,
those ones we will remember long,
even if we love some others after.

If you wish her beyond the bourn,
and still you sit voiceless by her side
listening to a fairy-tale arising in you two,
similar to a morn,
you'll remember her even when the winter
spreads its white all wide.

If you believe, sitting beside her,
that love is a dandelion's seed
which may be knocked off by a touch,
if you love the dream and the child in her heart,
if you feal empty and deaf without her indeed,
the thought of her will be waking you up
even after you depart.

Forever we remember really these
with whom we never caressed,
whose lips remained unknown to us,
to whom we were writing a letter
only at spring, in reveries.

Those ones who cannot converge like rivers,
who have no binding vein
for floods of fervent blood to roar,
and still their hearts are calling like insane,
those will not forget each other
even when their souls are hoar.

If love is for you the knife in your heart,
and to pull it out you dread,
as you will die that very moment,
he will remember you, he will recall you
even on his dying bed.

Those ones who make us feel
our own hearts as a wound,
but the wound that is only worth living,
in our memory they rebound
even after we fall in love with others -
and then we feel woeful, like we deserve not forgiving.

Aşk üzerine bir nutuk

Eğer birbirinizi severseneiz sevgiyle;

kışın her yere beyazını saçtığı zaman bile
onu hatırlayacaksın.

Eğer, onun yanına oturup, aşkın bir
karahindiba tohumu olduguna inanıyorsan,
bir dokunusta bile dagılabilecek.
eğer hayali ve onun yüreğindeki çocuğu seviyorsan
gerçekten onsuz kendini boş ve sağır hissediyorsan,
onu düşÃ¼nmek seni uyandıracak,
ayrılsanız bile.

Sonsuza kadar, gerçekten,
hiç okşayamadığımız,
dudakları bize bilinmez olan,
bahardan bahara derin düşÃ¼ncelerde
mektup yazdığımız kişileri hatırlayacağız.

Nehirler gibi bir noktada bulusamayanlar,
bulusacak damarı olmayanlar,
kükreyen şevkli kanlı taşkınlar icin,
ve kalpleri hala birbirini delice çağıranlar,
onlar birbirlerini unutmayacaklar

I Love You

When you speak
My ears hear love songs
When you smile
My heart begins to fly
When you laugh
I dont feel cold anymore
Even in the coldest winter
I love being near you
Even theough we're far away
Because you're in front of my eyes
And you are with me always
Your precious words to me
Make you unforgettable
Everything you are is imprinted on my heart
You are my life
And in my heart you will stay forever
And I will love you for eternity
My Life, My Darling,
I love you.

The golden age of love

My hands are in love,
alas, my mouth loves -
and see, I am suddenly aware
that things are so close to me
I can hardly walk among them
without suffering.

It is a sweet feeling
of waking, of dreaming,
and I am here now, without sleep -
I clearly see the ivory gods,
I take them in my hands and
thrust them, laughing, in the moon
up to their sculpted hilts -
the wheel of an ancient ship, adorned
and spun by sailors.

Jupiter is yellow, Hera
the magnificent shades to silver.
I strike the wheel with my left hand and it moves.
It is a dance of sentiments, my love,
many a goddess of the air, between the two of us.
And I, the sail of my soul
billowed with longing,
look for you everywhere, and things come
ever closer,
crowding my chest, hurting me.

From the book "Bas-Relief with Heroes"
english translation by Thomas Carlson and Vasile Poenaru.

Adolescents on the sea

This sea is covered with adolescents
learning to walk on waves, upright,
sometimes resting their arms on the currents,
sometimes gripping a stiff beam of sunlight.
I lie on the broad beach, an angled shape, cut perfectly,
and I ponder them like travelers landing.
An infinite fleet of yawls. I wait to see
a false step, or at least a grounding
up to knee in the diaphanous swell
beneath their measured progress, sounding.
But they are slim and calm - as well,
they've learned to walk on waves - and standing.

macar pan-la genunchi in valul diafan

A Hindi Poem (Hindi - main language of India and not the Turkey bird )

English Translation:-

today gently with a meladious heart,
I sing a Love Song,
I tell my Lover the matter of my heart
by singing today.

when I saw you at the very first time,
I got crazy with love,
but that feeling remained unspoken,
as I got too much shy.

the romance budded in my heart,
I became crazy for you,
the beautiful rose of Love blossomed,
I became queen of my Lovers heart.

the fire of Love emitted in such a way,
that you, my lover became my soul,
now as if everyday is Holi,
and as if every night is Diwali.

we will always be tied with love knot,
we are made of each other,
in every part of the body there is an immovable belief,
that never this bond will break.

I hope you can see the Hindi fonts now. I have used the HTML codes for this. This is my last attempt for the Hindi Fonts. I hope it works.
I forgot to mention Poets name - its Ms.Kavita Sinha.

One wish.

If i could just have one wish, i wish to wake up everyday with the sound of your breath on my neck, the warmth of your lips on my cheek, the touch of your fingers on my skin, and the feel of your heart beeting with mine... knowing that i could never find that feeling with anyone other than you.

If anyone would translate this in Turkish, i would appreciate it very much.

Mara, thanks, you inspired me to add this one - my favourite poem of Vasko Popa, who was Rumanian, but was born and lived in Serbia.

OČIJU TVOJIH DA NIJE

Očiju tvojih da nije
Ne bi bilo neba
U malom našem stanu

Smeha tvoga da nema
Zidovi ne bi nikad
Iz očiju nestajali

Slavuja tvojih da nije
Vrbe ne bi nikad
Nežne preko praga prešle

Ruku tvojih da nije
Sunce ne bi nikad
U snu naÅ¡em prenoćilo

WERE IT NOT FOR YOUR EYES

Were it not for your eyes
There wouldn't be a sky
In our small apartment

Were it not for your laughter
Walls would never
Fade away in your eyes

Were it not for your nightingales
Willows would never
Gently cross your threshold

Were it not for your hands
The sun would never
Spend the night in our dreams

Vasko Popa

kendini esirgeme -sev beni
Giyinmiş,çıplak her halin güzel
En güzel halin odada..karanlıkta
elindeki tarak saçlarına dalmış
Saçların da elektrikle dolu
Dokunursam kendimi yakarım.
Gerçekten güzelsin inan bana
ve sonsuza kadar öyle olmana çabalamaktayım
Benim için değil,senin için
ağaçlari,pencereleri insanlari için
kıskançlık mazaretiyle bozma güzelliğini -beni affet
aniden düşÃ¼şleri yapma..ne olur sigaraların ölçüsunü kaçma..
Beni hiçbir zaman kaybetme ,her zaman keşfet

CANLI,I was googling for an English version of this everywhere and I just found it in Italian!OMG
So here we go first one is the original in Bulgarian And there goes the Italian..

Quanto sei bella!
Dio, quanto sei bella!
Quanto sono belle le tue mani!
E le gambe quanto sono belle
e gli occhi sono belli
e i capelli...

e amami!
Anche se con cattiveria - ma ama!
Sulle strade, sulle scale dopo
specie sulle scale sei bellissima
con le vesti, senza i vestiti
sempre bella sei
sei davvero bella - credimi!
Riempimi d’ingenua meraviglia
Che io possa credere di nuovo
nelle tue mani, nelle gambe,
negli occhi...Amami!
Come voglio trattenerti sempre!
E amarti sempre e per sempre!
E come questo mi è impossibile
quanto simile sei alla sabbia...
E ti prego non venirmi a dire
che vuoi trattenermi sempre
per amarmi sempre
e per sempre...
Quanto sei bella!

Quanto sei bella!
Dio, quanto sei bella!
Come sono belle le tue mani
E le gambe quanto sono belle
e gli occhi sono belli
e i capelli...
quanto sono belli!

Quanto sei bella!
Dio, quanto sei vera!

Quoting CANLI:

Guys,a few days, and New Year's Eve will reach us.
On that day,how would you tell your lover, that you love him/her,with a poem written by a poet from your own country,by your own language ?

Not easy i know, but i will search too

A Red Red Rose by Robert Burns
Scottish Poet (Northern England)

O my luve's like a red,red rose
That's newly sprung in June;
O my luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass
So deep in luve am I
And I will luve thee still,my dear
Till a the seas gang dry.

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear
And the rocks melt wi' the sun
O I will luve thee still, my dear
While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare-thee-weel, my only luve!
And fare-thee-weel awhile!
And I will come again,my luve
Tho''twere ten thousand miles.

O my luve's like a red,red rose
Thats newly sprung in June;
O my luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune.

Flames flickering,
Their beauty increased by the darkness,
Like a beacon,
Calling, calling,
The dance continues,
The pace quickens,
Engulfing those in its path,
Until barrenness remains
and a lonely flame
burns.

If anyone could put it into turkish it would be much appreciated.thanks

sorry if you are bored

Your eyes took me back to my days that has gone
They taught me to regret the past and its wounds.

Whatever i saw
Before my eyes saw you was a wasted life,
How could they count it part of my life?

You are my life 'ömürümsün' that starts its dawn with your light.

How much of my life before you has gone and passed
Oh,my love, how much of my life has gone ?!

And heart never saw any'bir' happiness before you
never taste in life except suffering taste.

I just started now to love my life
And just started to be afraid life would run away

Every happiness my fantasy'hayalım' was longing for it in my dreams before you,
My heart and mind found it in the light of your eyes.

Oh you my heart's life .. You more precious than my life
Why didn't i meet your love earlier?

Whatever i saw
Before my eyes saw you was a wasted life.
How could they count it part of my life?

You are my life that starts its dawn with your light.

The beautiful nights, the yearning and the great love
My heart is carrying them for you long time ago.

Taste love with me,Taste it bit by bit
From the tenderness of my heart, that is longing long time ago for the tenderness of your heart.

Bring your eyes, let my eyes get lost in the life of them
Bring your hands, let my hands get comfort to their touch

Oh Love, come
and enough what we've wasted,
What we've missed 'love of my soul' is not little,

Whatever i saw
Before my eyes saw you was a wasted life.
How could they count it part of my life?

You are my life that starts its dawn with your light.

You more precious than my days.
You more beautiful than my dreams,

Take me to your tenderness,Take me
Away from existence,take me

Far away, far away.
Me and you
Far away, far away.
Alone

Our days wake up on love,
Our nights sleep on longing

I Made up with days by you
I forgave the time 'zaman' by you

I forgot my pains by you
And I forgot my misery with you

Your eyes took me back
To my days that has gone
They taught me to regret
the past and its wounds.

Whatever i saw
Before my eyes saw you was a wasted life.
How could they count it part of my life?

You are my life that starts its dawn with your light.

HELENA

Thou hast invoked me from my grave,
And through thy magic spell
Hast quickened me with fierce desire
This flame thou canst not quell.

Oh press thy lips against my lips,
Divine is mortal breath;
I drink thy very soul from thee.
Insatiable is death.

HELENA

Du hast mich beschworen aus dem Grab
Durch deinen Zauberwillen,
Belebtest mich mit Wollustglut —
Jetzt kannst du die Glut nicht stillen.

Preß deinen Mund an meinen Mund,
Der Menschen Odem ist göttlich!
Ich trinke deine Seele aus,
Die Toten sind unersättlich.

How endless love can be ?!
Till infinity ?

My Endless Love
by Antoinette Kopperfield

If I could carry sunsets home
to bring before your eyes
My love would travel with the sun
within a ray of light

If I could bring you sunny days
with clouds so puffy white
My love would be within the clouds-
upon an angels flight

If I could bring you happiness
and cheer to make you laugh
My love would give you songs of hope
so tears would never last

If I could lift you-when you fall
to ride upon my back
My love...once more
would carry you-
my endless love surpassed

Szymborska,Brzechwa here...Well,I want to add K.I.Gałczyński

"Rozmowa liryczna" K. I. Galczynski

- Powiedz mi, jak mnie kochasz.
- Powiem.
- Więc?
- Kocham cię w słońcu. I przy blasku świec.
Kocham cię w kapeluszu i w berecie.
W wielkim wietrze na szosie i na koncercie.
W bzach i w brzozach, i w malinach, i w klonach.
I gdy śpisz. I gdy pracujesz skupiona.
I gdy jajko roztłukujesz ładnie -
nawet wtedy, gdy ci łyżka spadnie.
W taksówce. I w samochodzie. Bez wyjątku.
I na końcu ulicy. I na początku.
I gdy włosy grzebieniem rozdzielisz.
W niebezpieczeństwie. I na karuzeli.
W morzu. W górach. W kaloszach. I boso.
Dzisiaj. Wczoraj. I jutro. Dniem i nocą.
I wiosną, kiedy jaskółka przylata.
- A latem jak mnie kochasz?
- Jak treść lata.
- A jesienią, gdy chmurki i humorki?
- Nawet wtedy, gdy gubisz parasolki.
- A gdy zima posrebrzy ramy okien?
- Zimą kocham cię jak wesoły ogień.
Blisko przy twoim sercu. Koło niego.
A za oknami śnieg. I wrony na śniegu

"Lyrical conversation" by K.I Galczynski

- Tell me how you love me.
- I'll tell you.
- Well?
- I love you in the sun shine. And by the candles's glow.
I love you in a hat and in a beret.
In the big wind and on the highway, and at the concert.
In lilacs and birches, in raspberries and maples.
And when you sleep. And when you're concentrating on your work.
And when you nicely crack the egg open -
And even when your spoon falls down
In the taxi. And in the car. No exceptions.
At the end of the street. And at the beginning.
And when you part your hair with a comb.
In danger. On the merry-go-round.
In the sea. On top of the mountains. In rubber boots. And bare-foot.
Today. Yesterday. And tomorrow. Day and night.
And in the spring, when the swallow returns.
- And how do you love in the summer?
- Like a content of summer
- And in the fall, when cloudy and in bad spirits?
- Even when you lose your umbrellas.
- And when winter paints the window frames silver?
- I love you in the winter like a happy fire.
Close to your heart. Next to it.
And snow outside the windows. And crows in the snow.

Canli, I am sure you know Wolfgang von Goethe

Ich denke dein,
    wenn mir der Sonne schimmer
I think of you,
when I see the sun´s shimmer
Vom Meere strahlt; Gleaming from the sea.
Ich denke dein,
    wenn sich des Mondes Flimmer
I think of you,
    when the moon´s glimmer
In Quellen malt. Is reflected in the springs.

Ich sehe dich,
    wenn auf dem fernen Wege
I see you,
    when on the distant road
Der Staub sich hebt, The dust rises,
In tiefer Nacht,
    wenn auf dem schmalen Stege
In deep night,
    when on the narrow bridge
Der Wandrer bebt. The traveler trembles.

Ich höre dich,
    wenn dort mit dumpfem Rauschen
I hear you,
    when with a dull roar
Die Welle steigt. The wave surges.
Im stillen Haine geh´ ich oft zu lauschen, In the quiet grove I often go to listen
Wenn alles schweigt. When all is silent.

Ich bin bei dir,
du seist auch noch so ferne,
I am with you,
however far away you may be,
Du bist mir nah! You are next to me!
Die Sonne sinkt,
    bald leuchten mir die Sterne.
The sun is setting,
soon the stars will shine upon me.
O wärst du da! If only you were here!

Mondnacht

Es war, als hätt der Himmel
Die Erde still geküßt,
Daß sie im Blütenschimmer
Von ihm nun träumen müßt.

Die Luft ging durch die Felder,
Die Ähren wogten sacht,
Es rauschten leis die Wälder,
So sternklar war die Nacht.

Und meine Seele spannte
Weit ihre Flügel aus,
Flog durch die stillen Lande,
Als flöge sie nach Haus.

Moonlit Night

It was like Heaven´s glimmer
caressed the Earth within
that in Her blossom´s shimmer
She had to think of Him.

The breeze was gently walking
through wheatfields near and far;
the woods were softly talking
so bright shone ev´ry star.

Whereat my soul extended
its wings towards skies to roam:
O´er quiet lands, suspended,
my soul was flying home.

 Septembermorgen

Im Nebel ruhet noch die Welt,
Noch träumen Wald und Wiesen:
Bald siehst Du, wenn der Schleier fällt,
Den blauen Himmel unverstellt,
Herbstkräftig die gedämpfte Welt
In warmem Golde fließen.

September Morning

The world´s adream in fog´s embrace,
Still slumber woods and meadows:
But soon, through the dissolving lace,
You´ll see the blue of endless space,
The milder grace of autumn´s face
Transcending golden shadows.

I am certain, CANLI, that you know this old French love song: would you also be interested in the French and English lyrics for MON AMIE LA ROSE?

Plaisir d´amour
Ne dure qu´un moment:
Chagrin d´amour dure toute la vie.
J´ai tout quitté pour l´ingrate Sylvie;

Plaisir d´amour
Ne dure qu´un moment:
Chagrin d´amour dure toute la vie.

"Tant que cette eaucoulera doucement
Vers ce ruisseau qui borde

La prairie je t´aimerai,"
Me répétait Sylvie.
L´eau coule encor,
Elle a changé pourtant.

Plaisir d´amour
E Ne dure qu´un moment:
Chagrin d´amour dure toute la vie.

“Plaisir d’Amour” is a classical French love song that goes back 200 years or more. The music was composed by Johann Scwartzendorf (1741-1816), also known as “Jean Martini”. The lyrics are from a poem of Jean de Florian (1755-1794), in his romance “Célestine”. The final orchestral version was the work of the distinguished French symphonist Hector Berlioz (1803-1869). “The Joys of Love” is the usual English title. More recently, the song has been sung by Joan Baez, Brigitte Bardot, Karen Allyson, and, most notably, Charlotte Church
Plaisir D´amour

The joy of love is but a moment long;
The pain of love endures a whole life long.
Your eyes kissed mine; I saw the love in them shine;
You brought me heaven right then when your eyes kissed mine.
My love loves me, and all the wonders I see;
A rainbow shines in my window; my love loves me.
But now he´s gone, like a dream that fades into dawn,
But the words stay locked in my heartstrings, "My love loves me."
The joy of love is but a moment long,
The pain of love endures a whole life long.

A poem by one of the most well known poets in the Indian subcontinent.

Mirza Ghalib was a nineteenth century  Indian poet of Turkish ancestory who wrote in Urdu ( a variant of Hindi with a large portion of vocabulary adopted from Persian, Turkish and Arabic) and Persian. The original version of the poem is Urdu written in Roman script. (unfortunately I couldn´t find the poem in Urdu or Hindi script)

Urdu in Roman Script                                   English Translation

Ishq Mujhko Nahin                                      I am not in Love

Ishq Mujhko Nahin, Vehshat Hi Sahi            If not love, then let it be madness
Meri Vehshat Teri Shohrat Hi Sahi               Even if my madness is your fame

Katta Keeje Na Taalluk Hamse                     Don´t sever these ties with me
Kutch Nahin Hai To Adavat Hi Sahi              Even if nothing but enmity remains

Mere Hone Mein Hai Kya Rusvayee             What is this displeasure in my presence

Ae Veh Majlis Nahin Khallat Hi Sahi             If not in company, meet me in isolation

Hum Bhi Dushman To Nahin Hain Apne        I am also not my own enemy
Gair Ko Tujhse Mohabbat Hi Sahi                 Even if they think it was a stranger who loved you

Apni Hasti He Se Ho Jo Kutch Ho                 I am where my life wants to be
Aagahi Gar Nahin Gaflat Hi Sahi                  If this is not known, then let ignorance be
Umr Harchand Ki Hai Barke-Kharam           Life speeds forward like lightening

Dil Ke Khoon Ki Fursat Hi Sahi                     Even as there is infinite time for loving

Hum Koyee Tarqe-Vafa Karte Hain             Do I debate the value of loyalty?
Na Sahi Ishq Museebat Hi Sahi                   If not love, then let the torment be

Kutch To De Ae Falke-Na-Insaaf                 Give me something, unjust one
Aaho Fariyad Ki Rukhsat Hi Sahi                Present me the right to plea

Hum Bhi Tasleem Ki Khoo Dalenge            I will also perpetuate this ceremony

Benayazi Teri Aadat Hi Sahi                       Even if cruelty is your habit
Yaar Se Chedh Chali Jaye ´Asad´               The playfulness will end eventually

Gar Nahin Vasl To Hasrat Hi Sahi              If union is impossible, then let the desire be

English

My body, My hand
My heaven, My land
My guardian angel is mine

You say…
My dreams, My head
My sex, My bed
And it´s my Corona with lime

And then I say ..
Maybe we could divide it in two
Maybe my animals live in Your Zoo
Maybe I´m in love with You….

You say..
My hate, My frown
My kingdom, My crown
My palace and court is mine

You say..
My lights, My show
My years to grow
The time that I spend is fine

But then I say ..
Maybe we could divide it in two
Maybe my animals live in Your Zoo
Maybe I´m in love with You….

But You say…
My coat, My hat
My bones, My fat
My zipper is shut by me

You say..
My Skin, My blood
My devil, My God
My freedom is what You see

But still I say
Maybe we could divide it in two
Maybe my animals live in Your Zoo
Maybe I´m in love with You….

My begining, My end
My nuclear bomb to pretend…..

Latvian

Mana miesa, mana roka

Manas debesis, mana zeme,

Mans sargeņģelis ir mans

Tu saki...

Mani sapņi, manas domas,

Mans sekss, mana gulta

Un tā ir mana Corona ar laimu

Un tad es saku...

Varbūt mēs to varam dalīt uz diviem

Varbūt mani zvēri dzīvo Tavā Zoo

Varbūt, ka es Tevi mīlu...

Tu saki...

Mans naids, mans drūmais skaties

Mana karaļvalsts, mans tronis

Mana pils un galams ir mans

Tu saki..

Manas gaismas, mans šovs

Mani gadi, lai augtu

Mans pavadītais laiks ir lielisks

Bet tas es saku ...

Varbūt mēs to varam dalīt uz diviem

Varbūt mani zvēri dzīvo Tavā Zoo

Varbūt, ka es Tevi mīlu...

Bet Tu saki...

Mans mētelis, mana cepure

Mani kauli, mani tauki

Pats aizveru savu rāvējslēdzēju

Tu saki...

Mana āda, manas asinis

Mans velns, mans Dievs

Mana brīvības ir tas ko Tu redzi

Bet es joprojām saku

Varbūt mēs to varam dalīt uz diviem

Varbūt mani zvēri dzīvo Tavā Zoo

Varbūt, ka es Tevi mīlu...

Mans sākums, manas beigas

Mana atombumba, lai aizbildinātos....

Mexican poem :  Jaime Sabines. English translation is neccesary but it really changes the feeling Unsure

no encuentran, buscan.

siempre, hacia alguna parte.
Esperan,

temblorosos, hambrientos,
a cazar fantasmas.

      The Lovers

The lovers say nothing.
Love is the finest of the silences,
the one that trembles most and is hardest to bear.
The lovers are looking for something.
The lovers are the ones who abandon,
the ones who change, who forget.
Their hearts tell them that they will never find.
They don´t find, they´re looking.
The lovers wander around like crazy people
because they´re alone, alone,
surrendering, giving themselves to each moment,
crying because they don´t save love.
They worry about love. The lovers
live for the day, it´s the best they can do, it´s all they know.
They´re going away all the time,
all the time, going somewhere else.
They hope,
not for anything in particular, they just hope.
They know that whatever it is they will not find it.
Love is the perpetual deferment,
always the next step, the other, the other.
The lovers are the insatiable ones,
the ones who must always, fortunately, be alone.

The lovers are the serpent in the story.
They have snakes instead of arms.
The veins in their necks swell
like snakes too, suffocating them.
The lovers can´t sleep
because if they do the worms ear them.

They open their eyes in the dark
and terror falls into them.

They find scorpions under the sheet
and their bed floats as though on a lake.

The lovers are crazy, only crazy
with no God and no devil.

The lovers come out of their caves
trembling, starving,
chasing phantoms.
They laugh at those who know all about it,
who love forever, truly,
at those who believe in love as an inexhaustible lamp.

The lovers play at picking up water,
tattooing smoke, at staying where they are.
They play the long sad game of love.
None of them will give up.
The lovers are ashamed to reach any agreement.

Empty, but empty from one rib to another,
death ferments them behind the eyes,
and on they go, they weep toward morning
in the trains, and the roosters wake into sorrow.

Sometimes a scent of newborn earth reaches them,
of women sleeping with a hand on their sex, contented,
of gentle streams, and kitchens.

The lovers start singing between their lips
a song that is not learned.
And they go on crying, crying
for beautiful life.

I Love You By Hayley Seay.

Three words,

Eight letters,

One meaning;

a profoundly tender,

passionate affection

for another person.

I love you

The phrase gets misused,

and misunderstood.

Most people don´t know

what it´s like to feel love...

When they see that person,

their stomach flips,

and someone lets butterflies

free in their stomach.

They constantly think about that person,

they never leave their mind.

When they think of them,

they automatically smile.

That is the effect of

I love you.

Three words,

Eight letters.

I thought the one I posted above is too hard for me to translate; so I got another one! But I will surely work on translating the first one above!

Seni seviyorum

Aşkım nerdesin

seni çok özledim

hergün seni düşünüyorum

sensiz yapamıyorum

ne olur geridön bana

seni çok seviyorum

seni özlüyorum.

I love you

My love, where are you?

I missed you very much

I think of you every day

I can´t be without you

Whatever happens, come back to me

I love you very much

I miss you.
