Quoting lady in red

where does the ´rather´ come from?

doymaktansa

tansa is the suffix to say ´rather´, I think also ´instead of´

For example:

Yarım saat otobüsü beklemektense, taksiyle gidelim

- Rather than waiting half an hour for the bus, let´s go by taxi

(Im not so sure that the sentence I gave is correct, but I can say that tansa is the suffix to say rather )

This is my statement to buyukbalik

bunu kötu değil! (This is isn´t bad!)

It should be: Bu kötü değil.

Bunu = accusative, but in this sentence you used it as the nominatve form, because it is the subject of the sentence.

Bu güzel, ama bunu beğenmedim.

This is nice (this = subject of the sentence), but I didn´t like this one (this one = object of the sentence, accusative)

Not to be picky or something, just thought you would like to learn

I´ve tried several books of him, but he never will be one of my favorites. His style... {#lang_emotions_noway}

On the contrary, I´m a big fan. Only his nobel winning novel, I havent finished that one. And I wont anytime soon because today I bought his new novel, Masumiyet Müzesi. Ive read the first 30 pages and am already hooked up. So I´m back to my book now

I did that, in Balıklı Kaplıca near Sivas. It was fun! The tiny ones only tickled a little, the bigger ones - up to 20 cm - hit my legs so hard that a mole started bleeding (which attracted more fish). But it did not hurt at all. I was there in June 2007 with a travel mate from New Zealand. We were the only tourists, all other visitors were Turkish women. Nice recommendable experience.

The thought of blood alone makes my knees feel weak :-S How can that be recommendable

I agree too.

A few months ago, one of my pupils pulled away the chair of another student who was about to sit, and as a result fell on the ground.  I told them the fable that when someone falls badly on their coccyx, this can result in blindness, and therefore you should never pull such nasty jokes. It was merely to scare them. They asked what the coccyx is, so I told them that it is the tailbone, and that (according to the evolution theory) its main function was to support the tail, a function that has been long gone now, and that now it just is an attachment point for several muscles and a shock demper for when you sit down (not fall down ).

They were in shock that I even consider the evolution theory to be something that could possibly be true.

So yes, I suppose that multiple visions on the beginning and existence of the earth and humankind in any educational system, is a fine idea.

I´m still genuinely interested

I would like to hear a reaction upon some of the reasons for an abortion that have been mentioned from the pro-lifers. The girl who has given birth to her fathers child, over and over again. The crack hooker. The couple who would love to raise a child, but who know that the mother will die giving birth.

I understand reasons to be against abortion.

I am also wondering, the decision to be pro-life, has it got any religious grounds too?

And as a last, which just came to my mind: what is your idea on euthanasy? (I´m sorry, I don´t exactly know if that is the english word. I mean when a terminal ill patient decides he/she wants to die).

(and just for the record: I´m genuinely interested )

I didnt read most of the post. I got stuck on the fact that someone can have the dream to marry someone from a certain nationality. So if you come across a very manly, handsome man, that takes very good care of you, you will turn him down? ´You´re not Turkish, this is not what I planned my life to be!´

Quoting tamikidakika

and what do you think about the genocides carried aut against the Turks in the Balkans, Crimea, and Armenia. May I ask you what happened to the millions of Turks who had lived in these places before the ww1? Didn`t they have any properties? but who cares anyway if a couple millions of Muslims are killed by Christians?

I didn´t make any comment about my personal idea of the genocide. I just explained why the recognition of such an event (if it did happen) is important for the families, both financially and emotionally. I didn´t say that I ask for the turkish government to pay because I believe there has been a genocide against armenians.

So I don´t really see your point Nor did I say anything about religion here. I hope you don´t think I´m a Christian who is against Muslims, because I´m neither.
