Thread: About R

I think Dutch people are rather lucky. Maybe its because in our country the pronounciation of the R differs pretty much from region to region, but Ive never experienced the Spanish or Turkish R that hard for that matter. And Caliptrix, you say it sounds funny when you dont accent the R at all in -yor-.. but many many people dont always pronounce that R for yor- third person singular

And in Ankara I noticed they just make it an n for 'you'.. Nereye gidion? Nereye gidecen?

Thread: Jump rope - where to find in turkey?

I am currently looking for a light-weight jumping rope with a small counter, that counts how many jumps you make.

In Holland you can easily find simple ones for daily use in toystores for kids, but the only toy-stores i know here is Toys R Us and I couldnt find in the online-catalogue.

I know this is a weird question but I hope someone has an answer, because the second toyshop I know is a busride of 45 minutes in 35 degrees a way .. so Id prefer to know ıf I at least have a chance before I go

Sport stores, would I be able to find one there for an affordable price?

Try to find out if there is such a thing as 'invitation' letter from Turkey (it works the other way around for holland).

Your boyfriend and his family will send you an official letter in which they declare they invite you oer to stay 2 months with them, being fully responsible for all the financial costs if something happens (if you steal, they will pay, if you end up in hospital, they will pay). Ofcourse this is only on paper, because if such a thing would happen, you would pay them back ofcourse.

An official invitation letter does a great job in Holland though its no garantuee for success, but youı should at least give it a shot.

ps - reading this thread, makes some of my notes in 'how can i stay in turkey a long time'-thread, completely unappropriate. Sorry! Never figured it would be so hard for chinese people!

Haha after Trudy explained to me I really feel like a moron This is one of the things that is supposed to be my only quality (By the way, I wonder when they will make a smiley like :me_crazy: instead of just 'you' Because that would fit the situation more!)

Quoting huangdai:

hi,everyone~
i need your help.i am dizzy now.
i live in china, and my boyfriend is turkish man.i want to come to turkey together with him.i want to take a work visa, because work visa can stay there longer than holiday visa.but he say take the work visa is too difficult, because unemployment is large problem in turkey.and he's advice is take a holiday visa ,when i arrive at turkey,i can go to the "Emniyet Müdürlüü Yabanclar ubesi" apply stay turkey ,maybe two months i can reside, two months later,i can apply again.......
is it real?
if i use my holiday visa stay turkey ,can i find a job ,is it out of rule or not?
actually, even though take a holiday visa is too difficult for me.i am really confused.
pls give me some information if u know.
thanks in advance.

- With a touristvisa you are not allowed to work. It will even say that work is prohibited on the visa itself. You will be able to work illegal probably, but I wouldnt take that risk.

- To be able to obtain a work-visa, it would be advicable to try and find a job there first (you can apply from the internet or send around mails or maybe your friend knows someone). If they are serious, they will send you papers. Official work-documents will help you obtain a work-visa.

- There is also a student-visa which sometimes can be obtained just with the paper of the course. However you would have to go to school and Im not sure if thats what you want, and courses can be rather expensive.

- I know quite a few people who do it like this, though it may differ from country to country whether this is possible or not: Come to Turkey on the basis of a tourist visa, and when there are just 2 or 3 days left, leave the country to a close one: at the coast of turkey you can easily book a two-way ticket to a Greek İsland. You take a boat in the morning and in the evening you return, buying a new tourist visa. Unless your country requires for the visa to be obtained before entering turkey, this could be impossible.

-- I dont know when you are planning to go to turkey, but if it is really soon, try to find a job right now in for example a hotel. You might be able to get a place from now till the end of summer, so you can get a work-visa.

Quoting catwoman:

I think all the success stories shared by women here only show how strong, mature and smart they are. It really, seriously makes me wonder where thoughts like "it's a miracle that he can put up with me", or "I hope I will be strong enough" are coming from? I think you girls need to look in the mirror and appreciate yourselves more. You are also "putting up" with your men from time to time, it's a two-way street! That's a normal thing in a relationship. No need to down-value yourself saying how much he's "putting up" with you.

And Deli_kizin questioning her strength... that just doesn't sound right (it's more like an oxymoron), I don't even know you very well and I can see that you are very brave and strong. It's ok to have moments of doubt... sometimes they give us the right signals and sometimes it's a reminder that we're human.. . And I hope you don't believe for a moment that men don't have them either (except that they are "not supposed" to show weakness).

Thank you Catwoman Well I wont put all my personal-life out here, but I can say Ive done and said some pretty horrible things to Kadir lately. The stress of the exam has weakened me in that period and I worked a lot on his nerves. As a result, it is now the other way around I have to admit: i weakened his nerves too so he can take less than he used to do and sometimes he gets angry too fast It is hard to try to seperate ways a bit if you know you will share your dinner every night, but we are trying.
And sometimes Kadir really surprises me: he is like the most male man I know, even among all his turkish friends, and still he cares enough to bring me strawberry soap from the supermarket, and he is not afraid to cry, though that happens just once in a blue moon.

But thanks again for your nice message. Sometimes its enough to know that others think about us too.

By the way, what is oxymoron I know the word oxy, but moron only makes me think of .. well.. you moron!

Just read the lyrics. Really nice It would be nice if they would put the subtitles in English, or every country for itself in their native language. Though the magic of music might be found just in the voice and instruments, words can make the impact of a song so much stronger. A beautiful song can be forgotten quickly when the words arent worth remembering, whereas an awful song may be remembered forever because of the beauty in its words. I heard they already have this system in England, they dont have in Türkiye, neither in Holland (or do they this year?)

I think they deserved it, it was one of the better songs of the contest.

Hope my course-friend Jugoslava will be happy too
