I know how to translate them, Only needed to see how they were formed (yani mesela.. Yapıver ya da yapaver.. ama öğrendim şimdi senden).

The recipe:

Malzemeler (4 kişilik)

- 4 eggplants
- 4-5 potatoes
- 3 dal taze soğan , with their green edges
- parsley
- 2 turkish coffee cups of 'galeta unu' (breadstick crumbs)
- 2 eggs
- salt, black pepper
- 2 soup-spoons of creamcheese
- half a glass of crushed walnuts (if you cant buy them ready, you need approximatley 75 grams of whole waltnus for it).


Yapılışı:

1. Wash the potatoes and boil them. Once they are boiled and soft, unpeel them and with a fork (or anything) turn them into mashed potatoes. (you can add a bit of hot water if it stays VERY crumbly).

In the meantime, when your potatoes are boiling on the stove, go on:

2. In one bowl, mix the galeta unu, crushed walnuts and a pinch of salt. Set aside. In another bowl, break the eggs and beat them.

3. Cut the patlıcan lengthwise in small slices. Leave in salted water for a bit to take away the bitterness.

4. Chop the taze soğan and cut the parsley small too (I always wash them and put them in a big cup and use scissors).

5. Heat some oil (sunflower oil for example) in a frying pan and when it is hot, first 'bathe' one slice of patlıcan through the eggs, then through the walnut-galeta mixture and leave to fry crispy on both sides in the pan. Do this with all slices and let most oil drip away on kitchen paper.

6. Mix the mashed potatoes with the taze soğan, kara biber, parsley and two spoonsful of creamcheese.

7. Divide mixture in small amounts on the slices of fried patlıcan and roll them up. (they will look like a pancake thats been rolled up and cut in pieces ).

8. To keep the rolled 'package' closed, use the green parts of the taze soğan as a string and tie them up.

(Im sorry if the recipe is a bit mixed up but I read it once in turkish and now it is in my head partly dutch, english and turkish.. so the translation might seem a bit weird but im sure you can understand it )

Im making them now and because I couldnt decide what to do next to it, it will just be a salad.

I am making this tomorrow, patatesli patlıcan sarma. I found the recipe in a small magazine with recipes that was given for free during ramazan. The recipe however does not tell if its a sidedish or a maindish, and I wonder what to serve next to it? Does anybody know what goes well with this?
