The suffix -cağız comes to some nouns and gives the meaning of "feeling sorry, pity and compassion 

It is  formed of  suffixes  cak + az --> cağız 

Adam + cağız --> poor man 

* Note that this form should be used in a complete sentence.

Oraya biraz daha geç varsaydık adamcağız donardı. --> If we got there bit late, thepoor man would have frozen.

Kadıncağız  --> poor woman

Kadıncağız sevincinden ne diyeceğini bilemedi ---> The poor woman was so happy that she didn´t know what to say.

Çocukcağızın kalacak bir yeri yok. --->  The poor child has no place to stay.

Kızcağız çok çabaladı ama üniversiteye giremedi. ---> The poor girl tried very hard but she couldn´t enter into university.

* Note that this suffix can be used only with few nouns, not with all nouns. And it may NOT always sound good wıth person names. So it is better to  use the adjective "zavallı" with person names ;

Zavallı Ali --> Poor Ali 

Zavallı Ali yangnda tüm ailesini kaybetti.

Poor Ali lost all his family during the fire.

Some independent usages of "olmak" and "etmek" 

Beside their auxillary functions, these verbs also have independent usages.

1. "Olmak" on its own may mean "to ripen, to be ready to eat [for fruits] , to become mature "

Bahçedeki  elmalar oldu. ---> The apples in the garden are ready to eat.

2. "Olmak" on its own may mean "to be at somewhere " 

Saat 5´te orada olacağım. ---> I will be there at 5 o´clock.

3. "Olmak" on its own may mean " to happen "

Ne oldu ? ---> What happened ?

Ne olacak --> What will happen ?

Dün bu yolda bir kaza olmuş --> [I heard that] There was an accident on this road yesterday.

                                             [I heard that ] An accident happened on this road yesterday.

"Etmek " on its own may mean " to worth, how much in total "

Bu telefon 100 lira eder. --> This phone may worth 100 lira.

Kaç lira etti ? ---> How much did it come [total] ? 

                          [Imagine, you are buying several things from a shop, you want to know how much you need to pay , asking to shopkeeper " How much is the total ? ]

"Etmek" on its own  may just mean " do " 

Etme. kıyma bana ! ---> Please don´t do , spare me ! 

Ah bir bilsen, bize neler ettiler !-> Ah  If only you knew what have they done to us !

Anlat bakalım ne ettin İstanbulda ? --> Come on, tell us what have you done in İstanbul ?

Obviously he is not standing, He is laying on his back with his legs pointing the air playing He is joyful and  just enjoying the spring.

The person is describing a donkey which is  further up.

 Can you see  [there is] a gray donkey further up  in a spring mood [enjoying the spring] having his four legs up in the air scratching about [digging about] ?

"İleride, ilkbahar keyfi içinde, dört ayağı havada eşelenen boz merkebi görüyor musunuz?"

In my opinion, it is "your work" since the context tells us that it is the second person who is adressed. Therefore it is "your work" that you would  watch [look at] from a distance. [by saying that, the person [adviser] says that you will just be able to watch your work [the person you always  put in a high place and valued  ]

In other words, people are ungrateful , you value them but in return only thing you get is "disrespect,ungratefullness, unthankfulness" , One day that person might change in such a way that  you would not even be able to approach that person , you would just look him/her from a distance.
