HAHAHA...I asked him that too! But I did not get a reply!

But there is a funny story that goes with his comments about gays in Turkey. The first time I went to Turkey, I stayed in Istanbul for several days before going on my tour. When I walked around the city, I noticed many men walking arm in arm. Of course in the US if you see this it means the two men are probably gay. So for days I thought...WOW Istanbul is very progressive and seem to be openly accepting of gays. A few days later, my husband met me in Istanbul. He asked me what I thought of the city and his country. Of course I told him that it seemed very lovely and I loved the people, the sites and food, ect...and that I especially liked that Turks seemed so accepting and open about sexuality. He nearly choked on his coffee. Then he explained that it was a Turkish custom for men to walk arm in arm and meant nothing! So much for assuming!

A new plan is brought to Dutch parliament to decrease the number of 'marriage immigrants', (m/f) from countries like Morocco and Turkey (two of the countries with many people already living in the Netherlands and 'importing' their bride or groom).

The new aspects are:

The bride/groom to be must speak at a certain level the Dutch language before entering the country and getting a temporary visa and have a positive view about the Netherlands, its culture and way of life

Both partners must be over 24 and prove they are not related - like in cousinship - (with DNA) to avoid in-breeding

The partner already in the Netherlands must make a deposit of 7.500 Euro which only will be paid back if after five years no social security support has been given.

******
It is not a law yet, but it surely doesn't make it easier for people who want their partner coming to the Netherlands!

thats really big shame for the countries which this sort decissions taking for em,and thats no harm for any international decisssion if theres reciprocity.
