Yes, i also had the feeling that Turks are rather proud of their country.. i've been told most of them know the history of their country damn well..

Funny thing is, ive never felt the 'urge' to learn about dutch history, but i seem to feel that i wanna learn Turkish history.. does anyone suggest a simple book about history? I got one from my boyfriend, but it's very difficult to read.. i'd rather read something easy first and then read the difficult one. i havent got much time, so i prefer to learn by small and easy pieces Once i have more time, i'll conquer the big difficult stuff

Ohh this is great ! And i think those Pandora.be sites are very helpful.

I tried to post a new thread (not about this) but it doesn't appear on this site (at least, not at my pc).

Could someone maybe take a look at this threat Dinner-invitation post and reply for me (if you can help me at least ) because it doesnt seem to work here.

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know good childrensbooks to read and enlarge your knowledge of turkish language? It's the basics we all start with, just like kids, so starting with 'their books' is a good way to learn!

Hi!

I'm asked to have an Iranian dinner with the family of my Iranian friend. It is to celebrate the dutch new year, but with Iranian dinner because me and my friends were curious My friend (her name is Iren) invited us to her place.

Does anyone know if in Iran it is common to bring a little present for the people you are invited by? Like flowers, chocolate.. i don't know?

What do you do in Turkey when you're invited for dinner? Do you bring somethign with you?

Thanks in advance

How funny how this came out of a joke-thread.. not funny after all anymore.

It's getting time that there is no longer need for a word as 'feminism', because that would mean that men and women have the same rights. 'Feminism' implies there are still differences in right between men and women. Maybe that is the reason I'm not too keen on the word. So i hope we are not too far from the day that the word 'Feminism' will slowly dissapear from common vocabulary and end up in history books.. "those old times in which women were not having the same rights like men. Hard to imagine, isn't it, kizim?"

Quoting Oguz:

Koşmak = to run
Koş = base form of koşmak
Koşma = name of the action (noun) > running

Koşmaya başlamalısın
You have to begin to run

Koşmayı öğrenmelisin
You have to learn running

Thanks
But ehm.. I still don't really get the difference could you please give a few more sentences that would explain the difference?

Why can't it be.. ko$maya ögrenmelisin.. you have to learn to run?
