Hi..

Can some native speaker (or anyone who knows for that matter) please explain the difference between DOST and ARKADAS(h). ? I realised that in Turkish there are lots of nuances in the language and i really like this.. so i like to know them

Do those words mean the same or is there a different feeling behind them?

Thanks in advance

xxx Lello

This is what we call dramatic irony or hyperbolic language in literature

I am not sure about this.. geliyor part?

I hope one of the natives can help us out here

Oh wait.. it is university... I'm trying to find some course that is not related to a university or at least, that wont ask for an entrance exam.. If that entrance exam is in summerholidays its fine.. but not before..
And it should be in Izmir

I hope im not bothering you, sounding ungrateful or annoying.. but i'm getting quite desperate :-S

Thanks for your reply

The trouble is.. i wanna LIVE in turkey next year. And i need a LONGTERM visa for it. Only a job or a language-institute / university can give me a good reason to get a longterm visa.

The YÖS exam, specially designed for foreign students, is required for me to enter university. But i can't enter that exam because of personal affairs in holland at that day (highscoolexams are that day).

Therefore i want to enter a language-course of highquality in Turkey. (which will get me a longtermvisa and the same quality of learning turkish as the univresity would give me in turkish preparatory class)

These are my plans:

- this year: homestudy (already doin that in the little time i have)
- next year: a turkish language course in Izmir
- the year after next year: entering a turkish university.

It's so complex to get there!! And i have difficulties in making them real because i don't know how to find a good language course in izmir.

Oh and i will search for this Tomer.. hope its not a home-study!

Are there any people who study as foreign student in Turkey here? I'd like to hear about experiences and about how the process was to enter the university. I'd be very thankful for all these, because im struggling to get my things about that done for next year.

Are language courses in Turkish any good? If i sign in for a year-taking course of Turkish in Turkey (Izmir), will they be good or will they teach me how to order ice-creams and tell that i won't have sex without a condom?!

I need a GOOD 1-year-taking course that brings me at a good level of speaking fluently turkish.

Thanks in advance
