Yes Butterfly, you're right. Literally it means

my life, my only one, my everything

But Techboy is right - as his translation conveys the same meaning.

Yes it is useful. I just wanted to be of help. Like I said, I did my translation very quickly, the one you found on the net looks like it's had more time spent on it. And it's always nice to see different versions of translations.

Yes I agree with you Aslan. It is interesting to see how proverbs differ depending on the language! In English we say "Kill two birds with one stone".

I think in Turkish the same proverb exists - but natives should correct me if I'm wrong!

Bir taşla iki kuş vurmak
Killing (hitting) two birds with one stone.

Yaban otu asla Ã¶lmez.

This is a literal translation. From Spanish to English this literally means weeds never die, but I guess if we think in terms of English proverbs than it takes the same meaning as "the devil looks after his own". So perhaps a Turkish native could give us an actual Turkish proverb which has the same message?

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. I donâ€™t actually know anyone in the army â€“ but I still found it all fascinating to read. It gave me a real insight into this part of your culture. And I enjoyed reading it very much. What a wonderful piece of writing you gave to us!
