I am sorry but it is very bad situation for both of you.
I don't think so that he will divorce, because their marriage will be religious and formal i think. So it is very hard to give up this marriage. If he says that he will divorce, why does he accept it ? if he can't oppose his family now, how will he do it later about divorce ?

"i don't understand why your family are forcing you to marry when it goes against some islamic teachings.
if you go ahead to the registry office you are showing that you consent to this marriage and breaking it later will be much more difficult. if you actually DO want this marriage then all you need to do it tell me."

please help. thanks in advance xxx

Islamik ogretilere karsi gittigi halde ailenin seni neden evlenmeye zorladigini anlamiyorum.
Eger ileride evlenme dairesine gidersen bu evlilige razi oldugunu gosteriyorsun ve sonradan ayrilman daha zor olacak. Eğer hakikaten bu evliligi istiyorsan yapman gereken teksey bana anlatman.

How would you translate this into good English?

"Hani McDonaldsla ilgili değil mi?"

(Background info: Someone is saying this after having seen the documentary "Super Size Me", about a guy who decides to eat nothing but McDonalds stuff for 30 days to see the influence on the human body. The guy had regular check-ups by doctors, still, in the end he was a total physical wreck.)

I get the point of that TR sentence I think, but I'd still like to see a proper English translation.

Sağol!

Well, it is about McDonalds, isn't it ?

Poppy'yi seviyoruz = we love Poppy

Why do we need the -y- buffer consonant when "Poppy" does not end in a vowel?

"poppy" is read as "poppi" in Turkish, so it ends with a vowel. we add buffer consonant according to reading.
In English, you add also "a" before "university" according to reading, not "an" also begins with a vowel

Over in the Practice forum I used the verb "kucaklamak" as a translation of "to hug" but an alternative of "sarılmak" has been suggested......

What is the difference in meaning of these two verbs when used in the context of hugging???

sarılmak and kucaklamak has the same meaning as "to hug" and "to cuddle"

So they are interchangable with no difference in meaning then?
Is one more commonly used than the other?

sarılmak is used especially between lovers, kucaklamak is used when we meet a person.
