There was an English review in Today Zaman. It sounds pretty interesting. They said the special effects are state of the art, that it hopes to restore Turkish Cinema to the level(meaning ticket sales in Turkey) it had in the 70s when very many films were made.

They said Indy films like Uzak, (Nuri Bilge Ceylan) do very well in Europe and America, but Turks don't buy many tickets. (I saw Uzuk in the USA, we liked it).

Anyway, the movie "Son Osmanlı Yandım Ali" has an action hero, like the classics in the 70s. I plan to buy a DVD when they come out.

Thank you k_s. However, I think you meant to write "OATHES" instead of OAKs. At least that is what TURKISHDICTIONARY.NET gave me back.

iyi gunler

I tend to try and speak or write Turkish the way I write and speak in English, and I'm not always sure I am doing it right!

Translating English literally to Turkish, (I tend to do that also) almost NEVER sounds good in Turkish. If you scan earlier on this forum, many people have written good good posts on Turkish sentence structure.

This is an english expression when some has enough knowledge to put themselves in a situation, but not enough knowledge/ ability to solve it. Such as a child that learns how to start a car and drive a car, but their feet don't reach the brake pedal to stop it.

(I confess my knowledge of Turkish is like this.)

Is there such an expression in Turkish?

"Bilmek fakat yeter korkuludur mu"

"Patience is the companion of wisdom"
???

This is only literal, I don't know if Turks use such a figure of speech.

akıllılığın dostı sabirdir.
(wisdoms's companion patience is)
(In possessive constructions. I understand that the word order is (Possessor)+in (possessee)+ı/i verb or object)

Additional help would be appreciated.

An interesting article. When we in the USA insist on Democracy elsewhere, (or pretend to), when the consequences don't meet our expectations then what? Humanity goes on with or with the Western illusions. Fortunately.
