Can we use

hayırlı işler....?

hayırlı işler  "have a good business " , in other words, it is said to people who are doing business.

when we enter into a shop or when we leave the shop, we can wish "hayırlı işler" to the people who are running the business.

But for the person who is  just  "digging in the garden" or  "studying", we just say " kolay gelsin " [ may it [work] come to easy to you" ]

Herkese teşekkür ederim ama sanki bunların hiçbirisi duyguyu vermiyor

Bence Faruk´un çevirisinde olduğu gibi çevrilir. Duyguyu vermiyor diyorsan o zaman hangi bağlamda kullandığın önemli. Yani , eğer bir sevgiliye hitaben kullanıyorsan alternatif çeviriler yapabilirsin.

Let´s try these:

                         benimle konuşuyor gibiydin

                         sanki benimle konuşuyordun

                         benimle konuşuyormuşçasına

Wait for corrections.

The  second one would do the job.

Detention

Arrest

Penalty

Punishment

Detention =  gözaltı

Arrest     =  tutuklama ,  tevkif

Penalty  =   Ceza

Punishment =  Ceza

We use the same word “Ceza” for both punishment and  penalty in law terminology, although they have bit difference in English. ---> The difference is "Punishments and penalties can seem very alike. Both stem from wrongdoings or faults; however, punishments are typically consequences of misbehavior, while penalties stem from breach of a rule or law.

In Turkish Penal Code  ceza is used for both words.

SUÇTA VE CEZADA KANUNİLİK İLKESİ

Madde 2 - (1) Kanunun açıkça suç saymadığı bir fiil için kimseye ceza verilemez ve güvenlik tedbiri uygulanamaz. Kanunda yazılı cezalardan ve güvenlik tedbirlerinden başka bir ceza ve güvenlik tedbirine hükmo- lunamaz.

No Punishment without a Law

Article 2. - (1) An act may only be punished or be subject to a safety measure if its punishability was explicitly determined by law. No punishment or a safety measure can be applied other than those which are provided for by the law.

(2) İt is not permitted to decree crimes or punishments by administrative regulatory acts.

SORUŞTURMA KOŞULU OLAN CEZANIN HESAPLANMASI

Madde 15 - (1) Miktarının soruşturma koşulu oluşturduğu hâllerde ceza, soruşturma evresinde ileri sürülen kanunî ağırlaştırıcı nedenlerin aşağı sınırı ve kanunî hafifletici nedenlerin yukarı sınırı göz önünde bulun- durularak hesaplanır.

Calculation of the Penalty Requisite for Prosecution

Article 15 . [1] The term of  the penalty which is particularly deemed a requisite for prosecution shall be calculated by taking into consideration both the lower limits of the legal aggravating circumstances and the upper limits of the legal mitigating circumstances which were alleged during the prosecution

iyi aksamlar herkese,

I´ve noticed it quite a few times on facebook, but I have no idea what it means and can´t find the meaning for it. Can someone tell me what, ´yaw´ means. Is it a slang word?

simdiden tesekkurler

It is the broken form of  “yahu “   ya   hu !  -à  Ey  Allahım [ yāhū ياهو]

Different versions are seen in slang “ yaw, yav, yahu ”

Yes, it is slang and may mean ;

·         man !  ,  hey ! ,  for  God’s  sake !  , look !

Ne  yaptın  yahu ? -à   What have you done for goodness sake ?

                                        Man !  what  have you done ?

                                        Hey !  what  have  you  done ?

It  is more like  “manly” phrase.

Yahu   bizim  çaylar  nerde  kaldı ? -à  Hey , where is our tea ?

Bu  da  ne  yahu [yav]à What  an earth is this ?

the example thats given ´Gizem´s house = Gizem´in evi´, what about a name ending in a vowel such as ´Laura´s house´ ...would that still be ´Laura´ın evi´ ?

You add "n"  in between " Laura´nın" evi.

We all got to  stop this , These stupid discussions will bring  no good for Turkish Learners !!!{#emotions_dlg.shame}
