Thread: Why do Turks always fight each other?

I think it shows even at TC. But I have also noticed the quarrels are not as serious as they look from outside. Some words which would blacken my mind forever are forgotten the next day.

Quoting tomac

I think that the last sentence:

Uzaktan bakarsın eserine

May also mean: You will look from distance on his/her work.

Theoretically yes but I still don´t think so.

I think the context supports this interpretation: look at him now, he is a product of yours, you have made him what he is. You look up to him, he looks down to you.

Quoting SweetyKiz

"Gözünde çok yükselttiğin, bir gün gerçekten yukarıdan bakmaya başlar sana.Senin yücelttiğin, seni beğenmez.Uzaktan bakarsın eserine."

The one whom you held in awe will really begin to look down on you one day. The one you ennobled won´t like you. Then look at your own work from a distance.

In that case I would have smelled the sarcasm. The one extra LAR just worked like a false coin for me.

davranmak seems to have a wider meaning than the English behave.

I often see it used with karşı also. Could it be approximately

birine karşı kaba davranmak ´behave rude towards someone´

birine kaba davranmak ´treat someone in a rude way´     ?

I wonder if Turks even see a difference here.

Anyway, thanks huko.

I have learned DIK is not too sensitive about the time it refers to. Anything but future goes.

What about a sentence like

My son will have to set off on the journey right after he comes from school    ?

Somehow it hurts my ear to say okuldan geldikten sonra here because it is in the future.
