Mary Anderson 1903 yılında araba sileceğini icat ettiğinde ise sürücülerin dikkatini dağıtacağı gerekçesiyle 10 yıl boyunca patent alamadı.

Cochrane, hizmetçilerinin sürekli olarak çin porselenlerinin kırılması ve zarar görmesinden bıktığı için bulaşık makinesini icat etti.

Don´t buy arguments by looking at how they are packed. Patriotism can sometimes be a social defense mechanism a cement holding the entire structure to give it a chance to evolve into more advanced stages.

Sometimes the problem is not that we do the wrong things but that we continue too long doing the things that once may have been right.

Well,  PM should stop being obsessed with the sex of others!! It is better if he concantrates with his own.

You don´t understand. It may be a precondition for the daughter´s education in conservative families that the girl can study without the fear of being involved with men. So this decision may actually improve girls´ possibilities for higher education just like allowing headscarves in the university.

Some scholars say hijab and all that belongs to it actually opens the society for the female sex because a woman with a headscarf is not treated as a representative of her gender but a neutral actor.

Sometimes you have to take a step  -  if not backwards  -  at least to the side in order to acchieve progress.

Quoting srhat

Çalmak also means vurmak "to hit",  as you can see in the sentence "al da başına çal"

Also there is another meaning of çalmak let me explain it with and example: "onun gözlerinin rengi yeşile çalıyor"  means color of his eyes is not exactly green but something similar to green

So there are many different meanings of this word.  I think you are right there must be connection between them but I don´t know what it might be.

I also think it is not coincidental: one syllable verb roots hardly just lapse together.

One possible explanation is foreign influence. The corresponding verb in Arabic or Persian may have a range of meanings and these may have been transferred from language to language by bilingual speakers.

In vain? what do you mean?

That is what I said: it is an unbearable thought.

Maybe it is unavoidable in certain historical situations. But I do not believe in clean wars. There is always someone somewhere who benefits. And the rest just suffer. (It does not lessen the sorrow we feel for them.)

The method of making pronouns by adding possessive suffixes into adjectives actually makes the category of pronouns open. I think this is one of the specialities of Turkish.

Can you use describing adjectives the same way:

?bizim zeki(ler)imiz ´those ones of us who are clever´   ?
