I would say yığın is the head of that nominal phrase and para is defining it but I don´t know really how Turks analyse it. If a grammatical ending was needed where would it be placed, in yığın or para?

In addition to ´touch´ dokunmak also has the abstract meaning ´to have an effect on´. Also

                    Bana zararı dokunmaz ´He cannot harm me.´

                    Sinirime dokunuyor ´He is getting to my nerves.´

The dictionary also gives namusuna dokunmak ´dishonor´, kanına dokunmak ´make one´s blood boil´, dibe dokunmak ´to fall to the lowest point´.

Nevertheless, the syntactic structure does not change: what effects is the subject, what is effected is the indirect object, just like in the case of ´touch´.

When we translate English relative clauses into Turkish we must look at the syntactic position of the relative pronoun in the equivalent English sentence. DIK participle is used

1) when the relative pronoun is the object of the sentence

the watermelon which I ate

yediğim karpuz

the lawyer whom he chose

seçtiği avukat

2) when the relative pronoun is the object of a preposition (other than of)

the man I went to

gittiğim adam

the train we came by

geldiğimiz tren

the child she is looking at

baktığı çocuk

the pool I jump into

atladığım havuz

And yes, gittiğim kişi could be ´the person I went with/to/from´. To stress the with meaning when necessary birlikte/beraber can be used.
