The question particle MI can be added after any constituent of the sentence  -  the one you want to target your questioning at. So,

İstanbul´da mı yaşıyorsun? ´Is it Istanbul that you are living in (and not somewhere else)?´

İstanbul´da yaşıyor musun? ´Are you living in Istanbul (or just staying there temporarily for instance)?´

Sen mi İstanbul´da yaşıyorsun? ´Is it you who lives in İstanbul (and not someone else)?´

I have realised this is a complicated language but I would love to learn more. I know how to speak a bit of Arabic so hopefully that might help me (wishful thinking)

Hopes and wishes won´t help. Your knowledge of Arabic may be useful later when you increase your vocabulary. If you decide to go for it there are plenty of useful lessons and exercises on this website. Start by clicking the red "Classes" bar above.

If you want to get the proper names right K´s and B´s and Z´s are not enough because in Turkish the endings will be attached to them according to some phonetical rules which you might not know (or maybe you do?). And what is the use of being so cautious anyway, they are just given names and names of places, the real identities of people should be safe anyway...just wondering.

It is not the first time I pay attention to this code language in translation requests.

Anyway, with the help of our translators I am sure you will get it done.

Everyone seems to be shy to comment it but I am hopeful. Let´s see what the autumn brings, I think people´s mind is somewhere else now.

This is how I imagine it:

Those who come from far away would all stay in one hotel, basic level, moderately priced but good location. This would give the chance for spontaneous togetherness and discussions.

Three planned events, organized beforehand:

1. A sightseeing tour, hopefully a fresh view of Istanbul, one of our Turkish friends could be the guide.

2. Theatre/concert.

3. Dinner.

There seems to be as many as five weekends in March 2014. They are all the same to me, just suggest any time. Is there anything special in the Turkish calendar in March?

Sorry to interfere but as a former communication teacher I always recommend positive approach. Simply because it gives better results. Even if the issue is annoying. Even if you think the receiver has done the mistake in purpose I would give the impression that it must have been a regrettable lapse and that I am sure they would be most willing to correct it as soon as possible because from what you have seen they always work in a very responsible way and blaablaaabblaaa...

They know you are not going to just forget it. They know there will be consequences. You don´t have to tell them that. If there is no result then you can start giving due dates and threatening with legal actions.

And of course it is up to you. Just my thoughts.

typical eu.. selling you your birth right in exchange of something

Would you mind explaining what you mean by birth right here.

I have understood that the human rights network is worried about undermining the rights of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers if Turkey ratifies this agreement.

To put it in short: I think people should be free to move across borders just like capital and goods move. It is an important political goal. The pressure is growing. European populations are aging fast and have high aged dependency ratios. Turkey as a young nation has what Europe needs. I think free movement will be reality but not in the near future, the counter arguments are still strong.

I find it embarassing that Europe closes its borders from the rest of the world.
