Bir başka ülkeye, dağlara, uzaklara...
Everyone wants to go these days -
to a small coastal town,
to another country, to the mountains, far away.

Hayatından memnun olan yok.
Kiminle konuşsam ayni şey...
Herşeyi, herkesi bırakıp gitme isteği.
There is no one who is happy with his life.
No matter who I talk to it is the same…
what I always find is the wish to leave everything and everyone and go.

It means you have left behind everything and everyone.

That is how we are going:
one part of us says “go for it and leave”
while the other part says “stay”.
The one that says “stay” wins.
That is because that side is busy…
work, power, responsibility, wife and kids, family,
the feeling of being safe.
The worst thing is routine,
the ease that routine gives,
it surmounts the boredom of the squirrel cage.
We stay.
While hoping to fly like a bird we root in the ground like a tree.

Marriages,
another child being born,
debts,
growing businesses,
even a dog can withhold us from flying.

iki sokak öteye taşınamıyorum.
Alıp götürsem gelmez ki...

Hangi birimizle gitsin?
I cannot go and leave Rex at the door.
Let alone going away from this town -
I cannot even move two blocks away.

I wish we could make tiny getaways.
Some people do of course, but they are few,
only a few privileged people.
I wish we could all escape.
Budget, time, pleasure…if only there was a balance.
If we only could make small passages
within a day for instance.

Sırf yeme, içme, barınmanın bedeli
Bu kadar ağır olmamali.
What can we do:
from 9 o’clock in the morning till 6 o’clock in the evening.
After that other duties.
We are jammed.
It just cannot be this expensive
to eat, to drink and to take a shelter.

Is it spring that makes us this way?
Maybe so.

Her bahar gitmek isterim.
Gittigim olmadi hiç.
Ama olsun... istemek de güzel.
I don’t fall in love every spring
but every spring I want to go.
That never happened
but never mind…it is nice to want it also.
