Thanks Ramayan, I loved it. As an eternal child, it appealed

Only as a child?

Oh DK I missed you - you must be in Holland or you would never be here when you could be with kadir

Hehe Missed you too. Will be back 'home' on monday though.

ekd....... dont worrry, i flew with Onur air on the 2nd Jan to Bodrum and returned on the 9th with them, it was a great flight, with friendly crew.... Also i will be going back to Bodrum on the 27th March with them again....

Quoting becky:

i went to turkey last year & my flight was with onur air i had a good flight with them & i would fly with them again as the saying goes accidents can & will happen

Both these posts seemed really strange to me! Friendly airline crew do not ensure a safe flight! To not check simple things like doors being shut in baggage holds seems like a very BIG negligance to me and I would be concerned about their safety procedures until they are reviewed. Accidents happen to anyone yes, but why increase your probability?

Put it this way - if you had a choice to ride in a car with a advanced experienced driver or to get a ride in a car driven by someone who had had accidents before and neglected the safety of their car - which would you choose?

Exactly my point. You could never get me on an Onur-air aircraft, eventhough I heard they have been removed from the black-list. But I would not fly with a company that has such a history. Id rather pay a little more.

Definitly do NOT bring wine as most of the participants and guests are probably Muslim and could not in clear conscience partake of it. You could bring sweets.

Oh you are right :-S How ignorant of me to advice that! And for that too.. i remember it from the film Gegen Die Wand now.. if you buy sweets, for instant chocolate, make sure they are not filled with liquor

Ok, so no boob tubes or mini skirts then! seriously though thank you for this.

I hope you weren't considering to go to a wedding in such a style anyway.

Btw, they know you are a foreigner and still invited you, so they should understand if you dont know all the codes that come along with it. Don't worry too much and see if you can buy a weddinggift together with the one you are going. If the wedding gift consists of money, you could always decide to bring something small like a bottle of wine or flowers, to show your respect and that you are happy to be invited.

When I give someone abroad (not especially Turkish) a present I usually go to a tourist souvenir shop here in town, buying things like small Delft Blue, wooden shoes, tulip stuff etc. because I found out a lot of people like those things. Also a CD with music in my language was appreciated. And of course food: syrup waffles, Dutch chocolate, liquorice.

Syrup waffles.. stuffed my suitcase half full of them, kadir adores them!

But may I ask which CD you choose? As I am really not a fan of Dutch music myself, I find it hard to choose but would love to take such a gift once too.
